Many years ago, on a bright morning, the scholar sat on a tree stump and read the Four Books and Five Classics. The scholar was as poor as a beggar and did not have three meals a day. The only valuable thing in the house was the two heavy books.

The scholar would sit in this forest every day, randomly finding a place to sit and reading until night fell. Days passed like this in the Sage Book. One evening, the scholar was reading. When the sun set, he shouted,"" There is a golden house in the book, and there is a beautiful face in the book." Suddenly, a squeaking sound came along with the wind. The scholar raised his head and saw a white shadow coming toward him. It was a little fox that was crystal clear and white. It was so white that it was spotless. Its eyes were moving and it kept crying.

Strangely enough, when the little fox ran in front of the scholar, she actually stopped in her tracks and panted.

The scholar grabbed the little fox and saw that there was an arrow stabbed diagonally into the little fox's snow-white hind leg. Blood flowed down the arrow and dyed the area red. The little fox wailed and looked at the scholar with eyes full of pity and begging.

"Little fox, oh little fox, who could bear to hurt you so deeply…" The scholar sighed.

Before he could finish his sentence, the sound of hooves came from afar like thunder. The little fox's white body trembled non-stop as if it was trying to escape from the scholar's hands. The scholar hurriedly held the little fox, gritted his teeth, and pulled out the arrow. He tore off a piece of torn robe, wrapped the little fox's wound, and gently put it into his wide sleeve. It was strange that the little fox actually endured the pain and lay motionless in the scholar's sleeve.

The scholar had just picked up his book when he heard the sound of hooves approaching. Dozens of tall horses flew over. The leader was a burly man with a curly beard. He shouted in a luxurious manner,"Scholar Wu, have you ever seen an injured fox escape?”

The scholar raised his head.”

A green shadow appeared beside the bearded guest and shouted,""That's right, that's the fox I shot. Where's that little bastard?”

The scholar only smelled a fragrant wind blowing in his face and saw a smiling face like a flower. The scholar suddenly panicked and lost his mind. It took him a long time to come back to his senses. He pointed behind him and stammered,"I just ran past here."

"Thank you, scholar!" The young girl said in a delicate voice. Let's chase!"

With a wave of his hand, dozens of riders came and left leisurely, leaving behind a bell-like laughter that echoed in the scholar's ears.

The scholar muttered," There is a golden house in the book, and there is a beautiful face in the book." With a bang, the Sage Book fell to the ground without noticing.

The little fox stuck its head out from its sleeve and woke the scholar up with a cry. The scholar saw that its eyes were filled with sadness and gratitude.

The scholar put away his heart and gently stroked the fox, saying lovingly,""Little Fox, quickly hide. Don't let others bully you.”

The little fox slid down the sleeve. It limped and actually understood human nature. Its front legs joined together and made a bow towards the scholar. With a few squeaking sounds, its snow-white body twisted into a ball and actually started dancing. A white shadow could be seen. The little white fox's limbs were as one as it danced in the sunset. The scholar was stunned.

Suddenly, there was a squeaking sound in the distance. The little fox stopped dancing and bowed to the scholar again. She reluctantly went to her companion. She looked back every three steps and disappeared into the distant mountains. The scholar patted the dust off his robe, picked up the book, and started reading again.

The scholar still sat in the forest reading every day, but he would walk around the forest every evening, listening carefully to something. Every time there was the sound of horse hooves, the scholar would sit up in surprise, but he never met the green-clothed girl again.
