Luo Chong almost bumped into an old man and a child. He thought it was her granddaughter and told them to slow down. Jenna linked her arms with him, and they made a slow circle around the field, talking while they spent the time separating.
After a while it felt like they had never broken, but Luo Chong was still stern, unwilling to let himself be sucked in for the third time in just a few weeks. It turned out to be beneficial for him, and as they sat in the stands, drinking hot chocolate, they bought styrofoam cups in the canteen.
When Rowe reminded Jenna, his mother caught them naked in his room and laughed together. The "conversation" with his parents that followed was already painfully awkward, but now it seemed funny. Jenna placed her hand on his thigh. She smiled and made an ancient gesture. She quickly pulled him away. They both stopped laughing, and her eyes turned to his sad spot.
" Luo Chong, listen…" She began.
"This is normal." he said.
Jenna shook her head. " I shouldn't have gone out with you, I think, if we didn't talk, and it wanted to make things easier, but it sucked so much, but now, when we're like this…I miss it so much, but…"
"We haven't come back together." He was done snatching.
Jenna turned her eyes away from him and nodded.
"Are there other guys?”he asked.
She smiled seriously. "It's a couple here, it's no big deal, I've always wanted it to look like you, it's really unfair, I guess.”
"I've been doing the same thing."
Luo Chong felt that there was something new in him. Understood. He could understand that Xiao Min wanted to have sex with Wei Ming for the first time. This was not necessarily the case. Luo Chong did not respond. She didn't say anything, but Jenna really missed Yang Jiaqi. She was a girl from the north. Luo Chong knew that everyone in the south would think of her.
"Do you still remember what I said?”she asked.
He nodded. "You said that you were worried that we would live together because we were afraid that there would be no one.”
Jenna nodded. " After sorting out our first year of university, I felt like we were drifting. I don't mean like you lied to me," she said quickly. "What I meant was that we didn't click to live with us in the same way because we weren't really angry with each other, and we didn't want to be alone. I was worried that we didn't live together because we loved each other, but we could always say,'He's mine' or 'She's mine.'”
Luo Chong had an idea that made him smile, but he decided to oppose the Qing Zhuo.
"What?" she asked.
"It's nothing." he said.
"Tell me, we're telling the truth here.”Jenna insisted.
"Alright then." he said. "I was just wondering why we lived together for so long. The other reason was because the sex was so good. Isn't it too hard? Don't want other girls when I know I have you waiting for me.”
Jenna grinned. "Yeah, that might be a part of it, too.”She agreed.
Her gloved hands were wrapped around him, and he gently curled them left and right.
"How do you feel now?" he asked her. "What about us?"
"More or less the same." she said.
"What changes?" he asked.
Jenna laughed. "This is the first time I think we might actually be 'we're just friends.'”
"Same here." Luo Chong replied.
"Do you want to eat?" she asked.
"That sounds like a good idea.”
They left the skating rink and went to the truck. The growth path was frozen, and the temperature hovered around zero degrees Celsius, forming a large amount of ice. The snow melted and refreezed. They went to Tai Guo Food, a self-service event. Because the food they ate had taken a turn. It was about Jenna rubbing her leg against Luo Chong during the meal. At first, he thought it was an accident, but it stayed, and he felt her pressing her foot against his calf as they ate.
Jenna's mischievous eyes had a familiar look as they continued to talk and continue to talk as if nothing had happened. Luo Chong didn't know how she did it. "What are we doing?" he asked.
Jenna was confused. "We're having dinner." she said, giving him an innocent look as her feet slid back down.
"Then why are you doing this? Where are my legs?”he asked.
Her foot suddenly pulled away, and the flush bloomed on her cheek.
"I…I don't…I mean…”she stammered, her face growing pink.
Luo Chong softened his tone. "This is normal Jenna, I'm just confused, we both agreed to be friends, we feel like we're friends.”
Jenna looked at him. " I know this is what I want. Really, I just…missed it.”
"What are you thinking about?" he asked.
Her face turned even redder. "You know we're having fun.”
He laughed. " You mean…"
"We don't rob here." She quietly hissed and kicked him under the table.
Despite her greedy sexual desire, Jenna had always been very shy about what to do with sex being taken somewhere someone might hear. Luo Chong couldn't help but laugh.
"What is this?" he asked. "An elaborate phone call?”
Jenna's mouth and eyes widened, and her face was almost red. He thought that she was going to walk out of his room but Luo Chong's smirk stopped her. He was really crazy. His smile had always melted her heart, and at the same time, it was silly and cute, and his hazel eyes sparkled with joy.
"No, it's a date between friends.”Jenna replied shyly. She would collect herself later.
"Oh, is that so? Our friends and interests?”he asked, reaching out to his feet, so he slid his legs against hers.
"Luo Chong, I quit!" She hit his arm randomly. She smiled, although Luo Chong saw that he had hit the nail on the head.
Jenna didn't pull her leg away, but rubbed the remaining food that Luo Chong left his leg with. When they finished eating, they returned to the truck and drove along the familiar route with Luo Chong to Jenna's house. He parked the car in the entrance lane and waited for her to go out, but she was still there.
"Piao took a step forward." she said.
He did as she said, parking the car on the road. Jenna turned to him, then dragged her hand across the seat and found herself.
"Do you want to come?" she asked.
" Jenna…I…"
"It doesn't mean anything," Jenna said.”
Luo Chong looked at her. "But what if it?" he asked.
"Then, we'll see what we can do. Who are we hurting?" she asked, trying to sound more relaxed than she really was.
They were quiet for a while, Luo Chong considering her words. This could be very harmful. It could open up new wounds or reignite old grudges. But it could also provide access. This was a test, the final test, to see if they still had any romantic feelings for each other. Perhaps this was why Jenna suggested that they do this. Luo Chong couldn't allow himself to do this. He couldn't let himself think about other people. This was what had gotten Yang Jiaqi into trouble.
"Alright then." he said.
Jenna grinned nervously, squeezed his hand, and stepped forward to support the truck. Luo Chong followed her down the fence of the road. For the first time, he climbed over the familiar spot from four years ago. He gave her a boost and she gently landed on the other side, waiting for Luo Chong to cling to him. They skimmed along the edge of the property, their heart rate rising at the possibility of being caught.
