Luo Chong wondered if this was why Xiao Min had pushed him to be with Yang Jiaqi. Perhaps she hoped that it would be easier for him to maintain a platonic relationship if he had a girlfriend or was just alone. If he told Luo Chonghe about his romantic feelings, it might be easier for the two of them to become friends. He thought that she seemed to be too. They had a very good thing before, and they chose to get drunk together and act rashly.
So far, this was work, and this was the longest conversation they had shared, and since that night, it was no different from the conversation they had had, and they had shared these experiences.
"Yes, thank you." Luo Chong replied.
He handed Xiao Min his phone and her new number. Yang Jiaqi's father had always been angry with her, but she refused to tell him what really happened over her phone. On the contrary, she had told him at the party that it had been stolen. It was difficult for her to pay with her mobile phone now. She did not have a job now. Luo Chong's friend, Mickey, suddenly appeared like a ghost and interrupted them.
He was tall and thin, with dead black hair and a shaggy mane. He was wearing a black T-shirt, a gray skull with black jeans printed on it, and a pair. With his piercings, tattooed sleeves, and carefully styled hair, he looked like a punk band member, but he was also an incredibly talented computer programmer.
"Hey, Luo Zi." he said.
Mickey Xiao Min turned his eyes and looked at her through his glasses.
"This is Xiao Min. Let's take it together.”Luo Chong explained.
Mickey nodded and greeted her. "Listen, we need to talk. There's a problem…"
The two of them began to talk. Things related to programming were mentioned a few times in " algorithms " and " applications ", and Xiao Min was slowly getting annoyed by the conversation.
"Here." Xiao Min said as they paused for a moment before handing Luo Chong back his phone.
Micky looked shy. "I'm sorry, the seeds are over there." he said apologetically.
"No, this is good." Xiao Min promised him. "I'll go better. Make sure to text her." She told him to snatch it in a targeted manner. He didn't know what she would have done if he hadn't. Luo Chong had never expected this outcome before Xiao Min got angry.
"Yes, thank you." he replied.
Xiao Min left and stood beside Luo Chong and Mi Qi.
"Sorry, men don't mean to do this, it's just that we're so close to launching, I want to make sure everything's right.”said Micky.
They built an application. Mickey was a junior programmer, and Luo Chong was a designer. Although he could help with the code, he and their friend Kevin's business ended. He met them last year. Before the academy had begun, he had doubted whether he would be like them, and he regretted everything that had been hung out.
"Don't worry." Luo Chong said.
"She's a treasure, you and her…?”asked Micky.
Luo Chong shook his head. "She has a boyfriend."
Mickey laughed. "Shame. She told him everything she knew.”
Not really, Luo Chong thought to himself as he looked down at his phone and thought about Yang Jiaqi. The two entered the bookstore and continued to talk because they got the books they needed. Luo Chong only bought two. One was for his calculus course, and the other was for his programming course. This was because he knew Mickey. He was in computer science and was in engineering with Luo Chong. Their classes overlapped quite a bit, although their friendship Mickey had been pulled into a joint venture with Luo Chong and his other friend, Kevin, whose work had already begun.
They talked, they waited in line, snatching answers to all of Mickey's questions, and finally left, as they left the store. Luo Chong drove home and sat with his phone in his pocket, as if he was burdened by the promises he held. He walked into the empty house. His parents had gone to work early and stayed late. When he returned to New York with Jane, he was the only one in the house. Luo rushed upstairs and did some homework. It was the only day of the second semester, but he had enough to do.
The screen of the keyboard phone sitting next to him flashed with temptation. Luo Chong ignored it until his nervousness had far surpassed his curiosity. He was nervous and still full of doubts. What if she didn't respond? If she did, did she say that she just wanted to be friends? If you don't do this, you've already ended it. He told himself that he had heard his grandfather's words. In fact, his grandfather would have said to stop a bloody coward from calling a boy a damned girl. He went to Yang Jiaqi's name in his contact list and wrote a simple text message.
Luo Chong: Hey, Xiao Min told me she lost your phone.
It wasn't anything spectacular, but it was at least touching. The moment his heart started racing, he pressed send. He put down the phone and waited for a response. It came very quickly.
Yang Jiaqi: It was stolen! Some bastard stole it from my coat pocket!
You see, it's working. He told himself that happiness filled him. This began a conversation that spanned the entire night. She was even good at using emojis to describe sounds through the joy of text conversation. Luo Chong ate dinner alone in his bedroom, but he was not really there. He was Yang Jiaqi, even though she was on the other side of town. They sent emails late into the night, rushing to do their homework while they went back and forth. The conversation continued until the next day.
The messages became more and more seductive. He and Luo Chong were careful not to let anyone peek at their letters. She had a dirty mind, he told her, and she replied, I just have a sexy imagination." Luo Chong completely agreed. He and Jenna were in their first year of university together, but he never teased her back and forth. He wanted to tease Yang Jiaqi.
Was this all the flirting? Some were real conversations. Luo Chong wanted to get to know her, liked her, and used text messages and smiley face icons every time. It wasn't until Thursday night that he heard her voice again. He had to go through the code that Mickey had sent him, error checking. It was tedious work, and to a large extent, it was redundant to Mickey's perfection. But he was right, they had a shot at this, and if the application was wrong, they were screwed.
Luo Chong sat back in his chair and scanned every line of code. He once again admired Mickey's ability to write so elegantly. He had been texting Yang Jiaqi all day and almost fell into Wayne's trap while they were having lunch together. Wayne had been talking about his cousin, who was in his fourth year, and apparently he would be moving out after the summer term. Luo Chong Wayne tried to get Luo Chong to move into the apartment with the impression he got from splitting the rent, but at the time, he kept buzzing on his phone and was too distracted to really focus on the conversation.
Yang Jiaqi was becoming more and more audacious, becoming completely and utterly what she wanted from him openly.
Yang Jiaqi: I think of______
She asked him to fill in the blanks and let her imagination explain what she wanted. He replied with 'ass',' ass', and 'behavior' but when he was too distracted to respond, she sent him off. It took him a while to respond to her next text, and then his phone started buzzing. Luo Chong took a look and saw that he had a call from Yang Jiaqi. He paused for a second before picking it up.
"Yes, how are you?" he said.
"What are you doing?" she asked.
"Read the code." he said.
She hummed a sexy song. "Sounds interesting."
"How are you?" he asked.
Yang Jiaqi sighed in satisfaction. "Just relax. What are you wearing?" she asked.
Luo Chong chuckled and sat behind him.
"Yes, jeans and a T-shirt." He told her.
"Yeah, sexy." She chanted mischievously.
"How are you?" he asked.
"Take a guess." She told him.
"Sweatpants and a T-shirt." He told her.
"No underwear?" she asked.
"I doubt it." he said, from his computer. "I know you too well."
"Didn't we agree? Guess again." she said.
"Jeans and a T-shirt." he said.
"Minus." She told him.
"Underwear and a T-shirt." he said.
"Very little," she giggled.”
Roy stopped." Underwear?"
" Warm up," she said.
"Nothing?" He suggested, a grin forming on his lips.
"Bingo." she said.
Yang Jiaqi moved. He heard water.
"You are taking a shower." he said.
"Two taels." she said.
"A hard day?" he asked.
She said," It's not true. I went to the gym with Xiao Min. I was in a lot of pain, but no one gave me a massage.”Luo Chong could almost see the other end of her pouting lips.
Luo Chong tried to imagine her sweating and unkempt as she filled the bathtub. She sighed and sank deeper into the water until she was just above the other end of her shoulder.
"Tell me." she said softly.
"describe what you look like, now.”He told her.
She hummed a song. "My naked body. I tied my hair back into a bun so it wouldn't get wet. I was in a bubble bath and I felt like I was facing a bit of hot water.”
Luo Chong closed his eyes and let his imagination draw his picture. He could see her. Her black hair was tied up, revealing her neck, and her elegant shoulders were visible slightly above the water. She was holding her phone, probably grinning evilly because she had talked to him. She closed her eyes and leaned her head back against the back wall of the bathtub.
"What you should do is speak." Yang Jiaqi's voice broke his daydream.
"Your dad and Lauren are coming home?" he asked.
"They are downstairs." she answered.
"Can they hear me?" he asked.
Yang Jiaqi paused. "Unless I get loud."
"Take my slightly." He told her.
She changed the tone of the voice. She came back to settle down in the water, and he could hear every movement she made in the bathtub.
"You'll ruin your new phone by putting it in the bathwater.”He scolded her for joking.
"I want to hear your voice." She told him. She scooped up a handful of water and let it roll down her neck.
The words on her face, her bravado, her wilting, touched her self-awareness a little.
"What did you hear?”he asked.
"What?" She answered truthfully. "You can read the phone book."
"Well, everything about me is the code in front of me.”he said.
"Read it." she said.
Luo Chong laughed. "Alright then."
He read out a few lines and heard Yang Jiaqi moan.
"God, it makes me so hot when you say vulgarities.”she said jokingly.
