Flying Tigers

At first, some members of the Chinese American volunteer team suggested drawing a shark head on the head of the plane to scare the Japanese. In 1941, the Air Force won its first battle over Kunming. As the Chinese people had never seen a shark's head, they mistakenly called these planes Flying Tigers. The next day, a newspaper published in Kunming used the term flying tiger to describe the volunteer team's plane. After the Chinese translator in the Air Force saw it, he translated it as Flying Tiger and told Chennault the name. The members felt that it was good, so they officially named the Air Force Flying Tigers.

Later, he asked an artist from the Hollywood company to design a team logo. According to Flying-Tigers 'design, a tiger with its wings spread out would leap towards the target. The tiger's tail would be raised high, forming a V-shaped symbol of victory with its body. The fighter jet had the Flying Tiger logo painted on it.

The Flying Tigers 'first battle was in December 1941. The Air Force Command's monitoring station detected that 10 Type 99 light bomber planes of the Japanese 82nd Squadron had taken off from South Yue to bomb Kunming. Chennault's fighter planes had all taken off to meet them. The 10 Japanese planes were intercepted by the Flying Tigers. They hurriedly abandoned their bombs and returned to South Yue.

The Flying Tigers claimed to have shot down five enemy planes, but the Japanese battle report confirmed that only three bomber planes of the second formation were lost. Two crew members were killed in the plane, and a P-40 of the Flying Tigers was lost because it ran out of fuel and forced to land at the airport.

The 3rd Squadron was defending Yangon, Myanmar, after Japan declared war on the United States and Britain. During the Japanese bombing in December, they claimed to have shot down about 90 bomber planes.

In December 1941, the Flying Tigers achieved their first aerial victory since the Type 0 fighter planes wreaked havoc on the Chinese battlefield. Later, when the Allied forces lost in the Myanmar battlefield, they were considered to be one of the more successful aerial teams in shooting down Japanese planes.

In the early days of the Pacific War, the United States and China had vigorously promoted it. 299 Japanese planes and 1,000 Japanese pilots were shot down during the battle with the Flying Tigers, thus creating 18 ace pilots.

The Flying Tigers were divided into three squadrons. The first squadron was called Adam and Eve, the second squadron was called Panda, and the third squadron was called Hell's Angels. In December 1941, when the United States officially entered the war, the Flying Tigers had 82 pilots and 79 aircraft, but not all of them could fight.

After the United States entered the war, Chennault was reinstated as a colonel in the United States Army. He was later promoted to brigadier general and lieutenant general, commanding the 14th Air Force. In July 1942, the volunteer China Air Force was replaced by the 23rd Fighter Group of the 10th Air Force.

Only five pilots from the original volunteer air force were appointed to the new unit. Most of them became transport pilots or joined the army to fight in other places. After the original volunteer air force was disbanded, the 23rd Fighter Group was established. Most of the pilots thought that they had inherited the spirit of the Flying Tigers.

This was the first time Josh had come to the Flying Tigers 'air base. He did not know that these old and inferior planes could actually create such a glorious record. The soldier led Josh to Chennard's office. He sat on a chair and waited for General Chennard to appear.

Not long after, a middle-aged man with white hair and a heroic bearing appeared. Although he was old, his figure was very handsome. Josh saw the star on his neck and thought to himself," He should be the Flying Tiger Hero, General Chennard, right?

Josh immediately stood up and saluted General Chennard.""Captain Josh Anderson of the United States Navy greets General Chennault!”

"You are Josh Anderson, the hero of the Battle of Leyte Bay.”Chenard smiled.

Josh continued," General, you should know about this fox hunting plan. I need your help. Help me introduce the Chinese spy, Changjiang No. 1."”

"The headquarters has already informed me about this matter. Originally, a girl named Zheng Xuan was supposed to bring you to Changjiang No. 1, but she unfortunately died. Regarding the matter of meeting Changjiang No. 1, I will help you contact the Chongqing government of China and arrange for you to meet Changjiang No. 1. However, it will probably take a few days.”

"About a few days…?”Josh asked suspiciously.

Chenard continued," Actually, I've never seen Changjiang No. 1 before. Changjiang No. 1 is elusive. Only a few people know his true identity.”

"You haven't seen Changjiang No. 1 either?”

Josh thought to himself, Who exactly is Changjiang No. 1? Why was it so mysterious? Even General Chennard doesn't know his real identity?”

Josh stayed in the air force base for a few days before he finally got news of Changjiang No. 1. General Chennard took him to Changjiang No. 1. They took a military vehicle to a remote area in the city. It was a market where many people were shouting and selling things on the streets. The two of them passed through the crowd and arrived at a pigeon-cage apartment. It was very old and crowded. Many refugees from other provinces lived there. Chenard brought Josh into a sealed apartment. There was an airtight room inside, and Chenard asked Josh to wait there.

"Wait here. Changjiang No. 1 will come to see you soon.”

"General, are you leaving? Aren't you going to wait with me?"

" The identity of Changjiang No. 1 is the highest secret of the Chinese government," Chennard said." The more people know the true identity of Changjiang No. 1, the more dangerous his situation will be.”

Chenard left, leaving Josh waiting alone in the room. He didn't know how long he had waited, but when Josh was about to fall asleep, Changjiang No. 1 still didn't appear. The room was tightly sealed, and the air was filled with mold. It was very humid, making Josh feel uncomfortable.

Josh thought to himself, What kind of person is Changjiang No. 1? He was rumored to be the strongest man in martial arts in China. Was this legend true? Was he that arrogant? He actually made her wait for so long? At most, he was just a citizen of China, yet he was so arrogant as a citizen of China? It's really too small for the United States."

After a while, the door finally opened and three people walked in. The person at the front was very strong. He was about 200 centimeters tall, and Josh was 180 centimeters tall. He was actually a head taller than Josh, and his muscles were amazing. He was as strong as a bodybuilder, and his muscles could even throb.

Josh thought to himself, Is this person in front of me Changjiang No. 1?”
