A Familiar Move

In a trance, a pungent gas entered his nostrils. The fresh air circulated between his heart and lungs, stimulating the central nervous system of his brain. His consciousness, which had been sleeping for a long time, slowly woke up.

When he opened his eyes, a strong light flashed in front of him. His eyes hurt. It was a burning pain. The sunlight was very dazzling. Out of self-protection, the eyeball quickly secreted a large amount of tears. After getting used to it for a while, the boy slowly got up from the ground and looked around, his eyes filled with confusion.

Towering trees stood tall all around them, and the huge crowns of the trees were layered with luxuriant leaves. Sunlight could only shine through the gaps of the leaves, casting a halo in the air. The shrubs on the ground were equally lush. The morning dew still lingered on the tips of the leaves and did not evaporate. Under the halo, it reflected a little golden light. There was the sound of flowing water behind the bushes. A river flowed through nearby.

He lowered his head and looked at his body. His dirty robe was barely visible, and his original dark brown color could be seen. Perhaps he had been scratched by the barbed plants while running. There were many tears on his robe, and the skin under his clothes was covered in blood. Some places had already scabbed, and some places had not healed. He could see the rolling flesh and blood. Fortunately, the injuries were not serious and did not hinder his movements.

Who am I? What was this place? Why am I here? The boy did not care about the injuries on his body. These three questions appeared in his mind one after another.

No, why would I think that? Doubts appeared in the boy's mind again. He vaguely felt that this was not normal, but he could not tell. He was very distressed.

The boy stood in place and thought for a while. He felt a little thirsty. Coincidentally, there was the sound of water in front of him. He walked over and prepared to drink some water to quench his thirst.

The boy who had just reached the river was stunned. He saw a person, or rather, a corpse, lying face-down on the bank of the river.

Walking over, the boy used all his strength to turn the corpse over. He was able to obtain information about the corpse.

The deceased was a male, about 25 to 30 years old. There were two wounds on his chest and abdomen caused by sharp weapons, and his flesh was a mess. The wound was big and deep, which meant that the person who attacked had used a lot of strength. The weapon was very sharp, and there were no traces of follow-up attacks. This meant that these two attacks were carried out at the same time, killing him in one blow.

A series of messages appeared in the boy's mind, and he felt that it could not be more familiar.

Strange, how did I know all this? How did I know? Doubts flooded the boy's mind again.

Frowning, the boy shook his head and remembered the questions that he had no answers to. Then, he squeezed them out of his mind.

He touched the dead body. The boy found an iron waist token, a relatively sharp knife, some talismans with unintelligible words, an introductory cultivation manual, and some silver coins.

Taking off the dead man's yellow robe, the boy made a small bag with the things he had found and prepared to leave the forest. With his strength as a child, it was very unsafe here.

First, he identified the direction by looking at the lush shrubs on the ground. The boy thought about it and decided to walk downstream along the river. After all, where there was water, there would be people living. This was an unchanging iron law. As for how he knew, the boy did not want to delve into it.

He was small and weak. Coupled with his injuries, the boy could only walk less than five miles when it was dark. Through the gaps between the branches and leaves, the boy looked at the sky that was fading in red and darkening. He sighed deeply and helplessly found a sturdier vine to slowly climb up a sturdy tree trunk.

Most of the wild beasts that came out at night did not know how to climb trees. Trees were much safer than the ground. The boy, who once again had common sense in his mind, did not want to think about it anymore. He was very hungry now and wanted to find something to eat.

Rubbing his hungry belly, the boy weighed the safety of finding food at night and decided to stay on the tree trunk. Leaning against the root of the tree, the boy tied himself to a sturdy vine to prevent himself from falling off. He took out two edible fruits from his bag and threw them into his mouth. The sour taste spread in his mouth, and the boy grimaced.

It was really disgusting!

The boy stuck out his tongue to get rid of the taste in his mouth. He scratched his head and decided to give himself a name. He felt that it was better to have a name so that he wouldn't look like a savage. However, what should he do? The boy felt troubled.

A cool breeze blew through the forest, and the leaves rustled in the wind. The clouds in the sky moved faster under the wind.

The shaking of the leaves shook off the impurities that had accumulated on the leaves for a day, falling on the boy's head and shoulders.

He looked at the sky and then looked at the dust-like thing that had fallen from his head. A thought flashed through the boy's mind. He knew what his name should be. Yun Xichen. Yes, that was the name! His name was Yun Xichen!

After giving himself a name, the boy, no, now he was called Yun Xichen, and his heart was filled with joy. A strange emotion also appeared in his brain, as if something was about to stand out because of the name.

Shaking his head, Yun Xichen pushed this matter out of his mind. He needed to rest and recover his energy. He still had to travel tomorrow.

……

Yun Xichen did not wake up naturally after sleeping enough. Instead, he was woken up by the noise on the ground.

What kind of person was this? It's so early in the morning, can't you let me sleep? Yun Xichen woke up, and when her consciousness was in a blur, an unknown fire rose in her heart.

Yun Xichen immediately calmed down. No, this was a forest. Who would come here?!

Yun Xichen's heart tightened, and the rising sense of vigilance dispelled his drowsiness. He pulled out the knife hidden behind his back and slowly cut open the tree vines tied to his waist. He quietly peeked under the tree.

Three people with leggings, wearing the same yellow robe as the corpse yesterday, and holding swords surrounded a girl who looked to be in her teens under a tree.

"Little monster, you guys have nowhere to run now.”

"Are you coming with us or are we taking you away?”

"Be smart and suffer less!”

The three adults laughed wretchedly and threatened the girl who was surrounded by them under the tree. Their voices were filled with ill intentions.

How could such a young girl do that? Worse than a beast! Eh? Why did I call her a little girl? She seems to be older than me.

Yun Xichen was annoyed and immediately cleared the messy thoughts in his head. What was he thinking about?

An inexplicable rage rose in his heart. Yun Xichen felt an impulse to tear these three guys into pieces.

Before Yun Xichen could find it strange, his body had already reacted. He aimed at the person in the middle and jumped down from the tall tree trunk.

The three adults did not expect Yun Xichen to jump down from the tree. They thought it was just a monkey or something passing by. When Yun Xichen appeared in front of them, they were shocked.

Yun Xichen did not give them too much time to be surprised. His body smashed into the taller adult in the middle, and before he could react, he had cleanly stabbed the knife into his neck.

Yun Xichen did not panic because he had killed Ren Er. Instead, he was extremely calm. His thoughts were very clear. If he did not quickly finish off the other two, they would immediately kill him.

Yun Xichen's body was once again faster than his thoughts. With a tap of his foot, his body quickly pounced towards the fatty on the left.

Fatty was a little chubby, but his reaction was not slow. When he saw Yun Xichen pouncing over, he quickly dodged to Fatty.

The moment Yun Xichen missed, she grabbed a corner of the fatty's robe and swung it upwards with the help of inertia. The knife in her hand accurately stabbed into the fatty's neck and cut off his artery.

After killing Fatty, Yun Xichen supported Fatty's body and fell backward. A golden light flashed past Fatty's fallen body.

With a flick of his wrist, he threw the knife with the accumulated strength. Yun Xichen quickly rolled to the side and saw the last person at the end from the corner of his eye.

The knife stabbed into his throat. His eyes were filled with shock and fear, as if he could not believe that he had been killed by a child.

Yun Xichen heaved a sigh of relief and stood up. He patted the dust off his body and was puzzled.

He was very familiar with these movements. It was almost done in one breath, as if he had practiced it countless times. Moreover, he did not feel anything about the deaths of these three people. Why was that?

Before Yun Xichen could think of anything, he felt his vision turn black and his consciousness fell into darkness.
