It rained heavily all night.

Early the next morning, Wu Tong walked outside and felt the sweet and fresh smell of the countryside mixed with a faint earthy fragrance. He was in a particularly good mood.

But for some reason, Wu Tong couldn't be happy. Li Tong's phone call last night was like a lead block pressing on his chest.

Zhong Shu walked out and looked up at the clear sky. He said to Wu Tong,""Let's go."

After thanking Father Shen, the two of them set off.

Although they did not manage to find out Shen Qisheng's whereabouts in the past year, they knew that Shen Qisheng had a younger brother named Shen Qiming during their breakfast chat. He was a gangster in the village when he was young, but he had never done anything too immoral. He had left home many years ago and died in a car accident.

That was all.

They sympathized with Father Shen. It was too heartbreaking for their two sons to pass away like this.

"Spectre is really back! Spectre is really back!"

When they appeared at the door of the house, the manager kept shouting as if he was possessed.

"A weirdo is a weirdo.”Wu Tong seemed to despise him. When he smelled the suffocating stench on the building master, he hated him even more.

Wu Tong walked into the bedroom and suddenly noticed a few drops of scarlet liquid on the floor. He squatted down slowly and dipped his finger into some. It was blood!

Wu Tong hurriedly grabbed the phone and called Li Tong, but received a reply that Li Tong's phone was turned off. He had been calling non-stop since last night, but no one answered.

Wu Tong paced around the room like a headless fly. He could not figure out what had happened, and his eyelids twitched again for some reason.

He opened the door and stood in the corridor. The air was a little cold, and it felt very cold on his body.

He felt that someone had passed by the corridor just now, but there was no one in front of him.

Wu Tong had no choice but to return to his room. Looking at this home, a sour feeling welled up in his heart, and it was difficult to swallow.

After he went into the bathroom to relieve himself, he looked helplessly at himself in the mirror and suddenly felt a chill on his back.

Just now, he realized that there seemed to be someone standing behind him.

Wu Tong massaged his temples to calm himself down. He pressed his other hand on the mirror and looked down at his feet. The hand that was pressing on the mirror slightly exerted force, which gave him a shock.

The mirror actually moved!

He dodged at once and looked at the mirror with wide eyes in fear. He saw himself in the mirror reaching out to him with trembling hands, as if he wanted to pull himself into the world in the mirror.

He stabilized his frantic breathing and pressed his hand on the mirror again, exerting a little force.

The mirror started to spin slowly, revealing another mysterious world.

It was the room next door.

It was raining heavily, and the entire world was enveloped in a curtain of rain. The rain seemed to wash away everything, and the roar in his ears made him tremble.

He wandered uneasily in the narrow space. The cold and fishy smell of rain hit his face. He felt as if countless cold snakes were running amok inside his body.

He was extremely cold!

Everything in front of him gradually blurred.

Three years! He had been guarding this place for three years, but he felt that he was doing an extremely stupid job that might even cost him his life.

Of course, this was not the main problem.

The benefactor who had done him a favor three years ago might be in danger because of this. He did not know what had happened.

The rain lashed against the window, and the stubborn stains on the glass seemed to never wash away.

He swallowed his saliva and took out a gray cloth bag from his tattered shirt pocket. He took out a small piece of cigarette paper, then took out some tobacco scraps and carefully rolled the cigarette. Finally, he licked the butt of the cigarette with his dirty tongue, and a happy and satisfied smile appeared on his face.

He narrowed his eyes and looked at the hazy world of rain outside. His ears were filled with the thunderous sound of rain, making him feel uneasy.

Suddenly, a shadow flashed in front of him. The fleeting figure looked very strange.

He wondered if he was seeing things because of his old age. It would be strange if someone went out on such a rainy day.

He had been doing this job for a long time and was almost a detective. He was old, and he only slept for a few hours a day. The rest of his job was to monitor the movements here. It seemed that he lived to monitor.

Seeing the shadow, he forgot about the cold. He hurriedly grabbed a black raincoat and put it on. He grabbed the flashlight beside him and opened the back door to walk out.

There was indeed a man in the rain, judging from his broad back. The man seemed to be carrying something on his shoulder.

Was it him?

Such a strange action made him even more suspicious. He hesitated for a moment and quietly followed behind that person.

The person in front of him hurried south along the street. In the cold rain, the figure of that person seemed lonely and cold.

He suddenly stopped.

An ominous premonition told him that he could not continue following them.

He then remembered the price his benefactor had paid for him, so he quickened his pace and followed.

The rain was too heavy. Under the illumination of the street lamps, they looked like flying insects. The figures in front of them were a little blurry.

He wiped the rainwater off his face and his vision became clearer. However, the shadow in front of him suddenly disappeared.

He wiped his face again. The person in front of him was indeed gone. The street lamp cast two shadows under his body, one in front and one behind. It was a little deformed by the rain.

He walked forward to the place where the shadow disappeared and looked at the ground. There was no trace left behind. He looked to the side and felt a chill run down his spine.

It was a fork in the road. On both sides were dense weeds, and the inside was unfathomable.

Although he had lived here for three years, the world inside the fork was like a demon's cave. He did not know what was inside, which made him even more afraid.

He hesitated for a moment and walked in involuntarily. He was swallowed by the darkness in an instant.

As he walked forward, the fear in his heart grew stronger and stronger. He suddenly stopped.

What was that sound?

He looked around, trying to find the source of the sound, but there was only the sound of rain.

Perhaps he had heard wrongly.

Suddenly, a shadow flashed in front of his eyes and blocked his way like a wooden stake.

For some reason, he felt a fear he had never felt before. The shadow was like a wall blocking in front of him.

"Are you following me?" The shadow spoke.

This sentence was like a hard stone that hit his chest, making him feel a wave of pain.

This person was not the one he was worried about! Who was he?

He didn't know what to say and asked in a trembling voice,""Who exactly are you?"

"Who do you think I am?" His voice was as cold as rain.

The shadow gradually blurred in the rain.

He hurriedly wiped his face and said in a low voice,"You are not him."

"Hehe." The shadow laughed sinisterly, and the air was immediately filled with killing intent.

He was afraid and turned to leave, but he felt a chill behind him.

The shadow on the ground was getting bigger and bigger…

The room was filled with smoke, and the two of them sat opposite each other, smoking, each with their own thoughts.

Wu Tong's unexpected discovery surprised Zhong Shu. He could hardly believe that there was a secret door in the bathroom that led to the next door.

When Wu Tong told Zhong Shu about this earth-shattering discovery, he rushed into the bathroom and saw that the mirror was rotating around the center like a flip board. On the other side of the mirror was an empty bookcase in the bedroom next door.

Zhong Shu tried a few times. As long as he gently closed the secret door, coupled with the neat arrangement of the white tiles, there was almost no flaw in the appearance.

"No wonder when I first saw this mirror, I was wondering why the landlord installed such a big mirror, and it was on the ground. It turns out that this is a secret passage.”Wu Tong only managed to speak after a long time, his face as pale as a sheet.

"Let's go in and take a look." Zhong Shu said as he got into the mirror. It was like a wonderful magic show.

Wu Tong also entered the room, as if he had entered another world.

Behind the mirror was a bedroom. Other than some simple furniture, there was no sign of anyone living there.

"The ghost must have entered and left your house through this passage.”Zhong Shu stared at the bookcase and felt that something was unusual.

"But how do you explain the underground sound?”

Zhong Shu's face was bitter, but he had nothing to say. He suddenly thought of something and went to the bulge on the wall he saw the last time he came in. He stared at it in a daze.

It was not just this bulge, but something in the room also made Zhong Shu feel strange. He kept staring at the wall in a daze.

Wu Tong suddenly thought of something. He frowned and said,"If Yu Jie's body was sealed in the wall, it might have been sealed in from here, and then the thickness was widened on the outside.”

Wu Tong's words were not unreasonable. Zhong Shu nodded thoughtfully. "You're right. Perhaps the real scene isn't in your room, but here.”

Suddenly, Zhong Shu thought of Wu Tong's landlord's eyes that were hiding the truth.

Since there was such a strange thing in the house, it was impossible for them not to know that the old man was obviously lying.

"Tomorrow, we'll go to your landlord. He should tell us the secret in the bathroom.”Zhong Shu said to Wu Tong with a smile.

Wu Tong nodded, but his body began to feel cold, as if he had just swallowed an ice cube.

He had heard Li Tong's call just now.

"Did you hear that?"

"What?" Seeing Wu Tong's terrified expression, Zhong Shu's expression also changed, but he really did not hear anything.

Wu Tong listened carefully for a while, but the voice disappeared in the air and could no longer be found.

"I guess it's just my imagination," he said embarrassedly.”

"Have a good rest." Zhong Shu glanced at him, pushed open the bookcase, and left Room 1. He then turned the mirror back.

Wu Tong walked over and looked at himself in the mirror. He felt a wave of fear again. He suddenly realized that the mirror was an extremely terrifying thing.

Suddenly, something in the mirror ran over quickly. Wu Tong nervously took two steps forward before he suddenly realized something and hurriedly turned around to take a look.

Everything was quiet. Nothing had passed by.

Wu Tong hurriedly pushed the mirror away and disappeared into the room next door. It was as if he ran into the mirror and disappeared.

The bookcase came around.

The ice-cold room regained its usual tranquility. A rotting smell was rising from the ground and hovering above the room…

Looking at his son who did not say a word, Zhong Shu felt very uncomfortable.

"Ah, Cockroach ran back alone in the middle of the night. He scared me to death. Fortunately, nothing happened. He just kept saying that he saw a man carrying something. Sigh, poor child."

His mother's sigh was like a knife that stabbed deeply into his chest.

"Cockroach, what did you see that night?”Zhong Shu asked.

Zhong Qiang blinked and said to him,"It's a man."”

"What is he doing?"

"He came out from the opposite room with something on his shoulder.”

"What's that?"

"I don't know."

Zhong Qiang was obviously not used to his father's pressure. When he spoke, his small eyes flashed with fear.

Zhong Shu also realized that he had gone too far. He did not continue to ask and stood up to walk out.

As soon as he arrived at the corridor, his eyes suddenly widened.

A series of faint cries came from a corner of the building. It was mournful and miserable. Even in broad daylight, it was especially scary.

Who was crying?

Zhong Shu felt his heart beat faster. He opened his eyes wide and looked around. He felt as if there was a ghost wandering in the air.

His sorrowful cries became louder and louder. He turned his head abruptly, and a trace of fear flashed in his deep eyes.

Where did Li Tong go?

For the entire day, Wu Tong was like a headless fly. He first called the supermarket where she worked, but a female voice said that she didn't go to work today and asked him if he knew where she was.

Wu Tong did not have the energy to answer these questions. He hurriedly called many of Li Tong's relatives and friends, but they all said that they did not see her.

An ominous thought rose from the bottom of Wu Tong's heart. He remembered the ghost underground and the secret door in the bathroom. These abnormal phenomena must be hiding a huge conspiracy.

Wu Tong had a hunch that Li Tong must be next door.

He came to the mirror and looked at his pale face in the mirror before entering again.

The room next door was filled with an old smell. Wu Tong felt a wave of panic and kept searching in the room.

It was that cold and fishy smell again, drifting into his nostrils like a poisonous snake.

He suddenly remembered that the building manager had said that this was the home of the ghost. He felt a chill in his heart and looked behind him uneasily. The wall was coldly blocking in front of him.

Wu Tong was afraid. Would Li Tong be buried in the wall like Yu Jie? With this thought, he shivered as if he had been electrocuted and walked to the wall in fear.

The smell of death slowly emerged from the ground and circled around him like a group of tiny insects.

Wu Tong returned home from the mirror and told him that Li Tong had gone missing. If he hadn't gone to the countryside to investigate the case, this would never have happened to her!

Wu Tong put his skinny hand into his hair and grabbed it like a hook.

Thinking of the time he spent with Li Tong, Wu Tong was in so much pain that he covered his face with both hands and sobbed silently. Tears slowly flowed down his fingers.

"Little Tong, I'm the one who harmed you…I'm the one who harmed you.”He muttered to himself.

Wu Tong had never known that he had so many tears. They were like a flood that could not be stopped after they rushed out.

At this moment, Wu Tong heard someone knocking on the door.

Was it Li Tong?

He immediately stopped crying, and a happy expression appeared on his face. After wiping his face a few times, he quickly ran to open the door.

Zhong Shu, who was standing outside the door, looked terrified. He saw Wu Tong's red eyes and asked in surprise,"Were you crying just now?"

Wu Tong hurriedly turned his face away and said,"No, there was sand in my eyes just now.”

Zhong Shu smiled knowingly and did not expose him to his face.

Zhong Shu had just sat down when he suddenly asked,"Your girlfriend went to work?"”

"She went missing."

Zhong Shu was shocked when he heard Wu Tong's calm words.

"How did you know?" Zhong Shu took out a cigarette from his pocket.

This time, Wu Tong couldn't help but ask for a cigarette from him. He put it in his mouth and told him what had happened that day.

Zhong Shu's fingers that were holding the cigarette moved. He remembered that when they were at the Shen family's house, Wu Tong had received a call from Li Tong asking him to go home. He had hung up before he could finish speaking. Clearly, something had happened.

"Are you sure? If that's the case, I'll immediately go back to the bureau to start an investigation.”Zhong Shu stared at Wu Tong, feeling extremely regretful." It's all my fault. If I didn't bring you there, none of this would have happened.”Zhong Shu looked depressed as he smoked. The white smoke above his head slowly rose like the head of a devil.

Wu Tong stared at the smoke. For some reason, his hand trembled and the cigarette almost fell to the ground.

Zhong Shu continued to say,"It must be the ghost!"”

Wu Tong steadied his racing heart and asked Zhong Shu,""What are you going to do next?"

"Since there is a secret door in the bathroom, there must be something wrong with your landlord.”

"I'll go with you."

"Forget it. You should wait for Li Tong at home. She might be back tomorrow.”

"No! I must go!" Wu Tong's expression was firm.

Zhong Shu looked at him and sighed.#
