Chu Feng spent more than ten minutes to return to the camp. He was so thirsty that his mouth was dry. The jungle was too hot after the rain. Even if the road had been opened up, dragging bamboo was still very uncomfortable.
"Chu Feng, drink some water." When Yun Xin saw Chu Feng coming out of the forest, she took the bamboo tube and jogged forward.
"Have you been staring at this side?" Chu Feng took the bamboo tube and asked curiously.
"No, no, I just heard a sound and knew you were back.”Yun Xin denied with a fleeting gaze.
"Here, cook it." Chu Feng smiled and took off the bamboo tube hanging on his waist and handed it over.
"When was it?"
Yun Xin took it curiously and lowered her head to look at the bamboo tube. Her beautiful eyes widened slightly as she shouted in surprise,"Fish? You caught a fish?"
"I picked it up for free. It was left behind when the tide went out.”Chu Feng explained while drinking water.
"We have to go early tomorrow. We can definitely pick up more fish.”Yun Xin said excitedly.
"Hmm, maybe when the herring spawn season comes, there should be more.”Chu Feng said after thinking for a while.
"That's even better. If there's more, you can smoke it into dried fish. That way, you can eat it for a long time.”Yun Xin said longingly.
"Alright, then I'll wake up early tomorrow.”Chu Feng also wanted to go early. It would be even better if he could pick up a big fish.
"I'll go cook the fish." When Yun Xin heard that she was going to bed, she thought of the morning when she left with the bamboo tube with a red face.
" Strange…" Chu Feng looked at the girl's back in confusion. He didn't think much about dragging the bamboo beside the shelter.
He picked up another bamboo cage and filled it with water. Then, he took a bundle of rope and prepared to set off again.
"Chu Feng, aren't you going to eat before you go?”Yun Xin poked her head out of the wooden shed and shouted.
"No, I'll drag the bamboo back while the weather is not so hot.”
Chu Feng waved his hand and looked at the young girl's worried face. He smiled lightly and said,"When it's done, you can eat first. Just leave some for me.”
"Alright then." Yun Xin replied with a pout.
"After killing the fish, throw the intestines into the fire and burn them, so as not to attract bears.”Chu Feng warned seriously.
"Got it." Yun Xin quickly nodded.
"Let's go." Chu Feng casually waved his hand and brought a bamboo tube of water into the forest again.
With water, it was different. Chu Feng could walk much more easily, and with the effect of the insect repellent, other than the stifling heat, there was only boredom left.
Half an hour later, Chu Feng came to the beach again and found the last bit of fish remains. He also got some conch meat as bait and threw the second bamboo cage into the sea.
"Do you want to take a look at the bamboo cage? Isn't it too early?" Chu Feng came to the first place to put the bamboo cage. He still had to consider the danger of the high tide and not wash away the bamboo cage.
"Forget it, let's take a look."
Without thinking too much, Chu Feng pulled up the bamboo cage and looked at the fish in the bamboo cage in astonishment.
"Why are there so many herrings?"
He estimated that there were at least seven or eight herrings and two palm-sized crabs.
How long had it been? There were so many fish.
"It seems that there are more resources here than I imagined.”Chu Feng muttered to himself.
He guessed that when the herring spawned, they would be near shallow waters, such as the coast.
"There's a change in plans."
Chu Feng took out all the fish and crabs in the bamboo cage, killed a herring, took out the intestines, and stuffed them into the cloth bag. Then, he left the first place and found a new place to throw the bamboo cage down.
"Go and see how the bamboo cage is doing.”
He had some guesses to prove. He went to the second place where the bamboo cage was placed and quickly pulled it out of the water.
"There really are fish." Chu Feng exclaimed. Although it was only one herring, it proved that there were quite a number of herrings in this sea.
"We have to get more fish before the herring finish spawning.”
Chu Feng took the fish out of the bamboo cage and threw it back into the sea. He strung the herring into a string and tied the crab into a ball.
He climbed up the shore and dragged a bundle of bamboo back to the camp. He had to bring the other bamboo cage over as soon as possible.
Forty minutes later, Chu Feng returned to the camp and once again received the girl's concern.
"Come over and rest. The fish soup is already cold.”Yun Xin went forward and took the bamboo with great effort. She didn't even ask if there were so many fish.
"Here, smoke all of this." Chu Feng took the bamboo from the girl's hand and handed over a fish skewer.
"There are so many fish again?" Yun Xin was pleasantly surprised.
"I caught it in a bamboo cage." Chu Feng said as he walked.
"Bang!"
After throwing the bamboo on the ground, Chu Feng found a rock and sat down. He took a breath and said,""Change of plans. Let's catch more fish and make them into dried fish first.”
"Sure, I'll help too." Yun Xin raised her small hand and said.
"Kill the fish first, lest it spoil.”Chu Feng handed the chopper over.
"Then eat the fish soup." Yun Xin came over with a steel pot.
"Why are there so many left?" Chu Feng looked at the steel pot that still had half of the fish meat and soup.
"It's for you. Those who contribute more should eat more.”Yun Xin said seriously.
"I'll give it to you if I can't finish it." Chu Feng didn't argue and picked up his chopsticks to eat the first bowl of fish soup.
"Hmph…I won't eat it." Yun Xin snorted innocently and began to kill the fish with the fish and chopper.
As someone who grew up in an orphanage, he had killed fish before, but he had only killed some Crucian Carps.
