Super Surrounding the Sea

The ecological restoration of the river basin was only to improve the production and living space and resources of Zhen Country faster. It was the only feasible way to minimize the ecological damage in advance. It could not solve the survival crisis in the last three to five years and the problems of post-disaster employment of the 300 to 500 million people living on the polluted land.

Therefore, in addition to that, other projects were urgently launched, and support and investment in science and technology continued to be maintained and increased in the disaster era. This was the most valuable part.

For example, the large-scale investment in aerospace, which would always be the pride of the Zhenguo people, was understandable and gratifying. The super-large floating islands planned to be built for the population, land, and industrial production also needed a lot of support.

Of course, in such a disastrous era and in the face of many unemployed people, if the people were too idle and blindly lived without a master, it would be easy to cause greater chaos. In order to make the society stable, it was absolutely feasible to urgently launch some projects that people could not easily understand to arrange the abundant labor force that would never be used up. Currently, the project with the largest amount of work was land reclamation.

This was a project that could be ranked first in terms of project volume: His goal was to divide the entire Mudbed Sea into two parts, east and west.

This whimsical project was inconceivable to ordinary people. After the project plan was announced on the official website of Zhen Country, the controversy was raised to the highest level. It was considered to be an unprecedented super large project on Earth. It felt even more shocking than the planet development proposed by the Americans in the last century. It was definitely the number one project of mankind to transform the Earth.

The purpose of the project was to build a man-made freshwater sea of 150,000 square kilometers and a land industrial belt with a width of two to ten kilometers, a length of nearly 2,000 kilometers, and an area of 10,000 square kilometers.

Let's take a look at the specific plan and road map.

Let's start from the south to the north.

The starting point in the south was from Yangdao Port in Shencheng to Shanshi Island in Zhoudao City, all the way to Huaniao Island. Basically, along this line to the middle line of the exclusive marine zones of Zhenguo and Yuewei, about 30 nautical miles on the Zhenguo side, it turned to the north. When it extended to the north, it was basically near the 50-meter contour line on the seabed of Zhenguo side of the middle line. In the direction of Hekou Province, it extended to the north near 40 nautical miles outside the baseline of Dongshanjiao territorial sea near the easternmost position of Shanhai Peninsula. The middle line of the exclusive ocean zones of Zhen Country and Yueyu Country was also about 20 nautical miles away from Zhen Country, and it was connected to the shore near the port of the port city in the east of Guannan Province. A super large port and a large buffer zone were set up in Shencheng and the border port respectively.

"Note: Shencheng City is the nearest sea exit for the entire Nanjiang shipping industry and the largest port in the world. Therefore, there is another plan to build a smaller sea reclamation project that is 4,000 meters wide and 25,000 meters long with a total area of 100 square kilometers. It will be used for ships to pass through the freshwater sea and the open sea to prevent seawater from entering. It will also be used for inspection of internal and external entry and exit ships (to prevent poisoning and pollution incidents from being attacked again).

In addition, in the coastal provinces with corresponding latitudes, the inner and outer ports of Hekou Province, the inner and outer ports of Jiangkou Province, and the inner and outer ports of Guannan Province would be built. The newly added ports would be used for the extension and transfer of the original ports.

The super project divided the Muddy Sea into two parts, the east and west. The west part was the future freshwater sea that was surrounded. Of course, the shallow sea was also surrounded. It relied on the freshwater from the Nanjiang River and the rivers of various sizes that were surrounded. This would form a water area of more than 150,000 square kilometers. As time passed, the discharge of seawater would become a "freshwater sea" with an average depth of 20 meters. A body of water with a total capacity of 3,000 cubic kilometers (3 trillion cubic meters, 15× 10,000 ×103×103×20=3×1012=3 trillion cubic meters).

By replacing seawater with about 1.5 trillion cubic meters of fresh water from the Nanjiang River and the rivers along the coast every year, and adopting a separate plan of construction and replacement, within ten years after the completion of the project, the salt content of the overall water (shallow sea and part of the muddy sea in the surrounding area) could be reduced to less than 0.01%. It could completely meet the definition standard of fresh water by relying on the power of nature.

The governing body had only provided the idea and route of the project, so nothing else had been planned. It was a typical method of the last century.

However, the governing body provided sufficient reasons for the construction of this project, giving two reasons that won the hearts of the people.

First, turn seawater into fresh water to solve the problem of water shortage in the northern coastal provinces and cities.

2. Relocate and concentrate the heavy energy consumption and heavy pollution industries in one place to improve and solve the scattered pollution of the Zhen Country's environment.

Firstly, converting seawater from the northern coastal areas into freshwater:

The solution to the saline-alkalized pollution of the vast coastal land in the north could effectively reduce the demand of coastal cities for water from inland rivers and reduce the exploitation of underground water, thus improving the overall situation of underground water in the northern coastal areas. In addition, water could be diverted to inland areas through the newly dug canal connected to the freshwater sea, which could completely solve the production and living water supply of cities and villages in the vast area of the northern coastal plain within at least 50 kilometers.

Everyone in Zhen Country knew that the rapid development of the northern cities at the end of the last century and the beginning of this century had caused a huge increase in water consumption. Although several major water diversion projects had been carried out to divert the water from the North River and the South River to quench their thirst and relieve emergencies, as the city further developed, a new water resource crisis had appeared. Most areas had been relying on extracting underground water to solve the problem of water shortage.

Over the long period of time, the natural water level of the river had been artificially lowered by a lot, and the self-purification ability of the river and lake had naturally decreased. In addition, the industrial and agricultural production and domestic water pollution in the coastal areas had always been serious. It took a very high price to raise the water quality to a standard that could be used normally.

As a result, it caused a long-term contradiction between the supply and demand of high-priced and low-quality water. In order to solve the problem of water use, some areas mined underground water resources in disorder, causing the land to sink and the saline-alkalization to rise. As a result, the deeper they mined, the deeper they dug. In many places, underground water depression areas were formed. Some of the depression areas were even more than 20 meters below sea level, causing seawater from coastal areas to permeate inland areas, making the mined underground water completely unusable without treatment. Therefore, they continued to mine deeper underground, further intensifying the vicious cycle of the entire water resource. If this continued, they would never be able to find a way out.

By carrying out such a sea reclamation project, the freshwater resources of the entire South River, North River and many rivers in the northern coastal area could be gathered together, gradually causing the seawater in the surrounding area to be desalt. After the corresponding ecological transformation, the vast coastal area could directly extract the fresh water they needed from the freshwater sea in the surrounding area. Gradually, as the project progressed, the scope of the desalt would be wider and wider. The northern coastal areas could use the safe and almost inexhaustible fresh water. They would no longer need to ask for water from inland rivers and underground. The production and living conditions of the coastal areas would be greatly improved.

As for the land that was reclaimed from the sea, the high-energy and high-pollution industries and chemical industries that were relocated from the inland would be placed here, so that no such heavy pollution source would be left in the land area, and the land area would never be polluted by heavy industries.

The dikes here were relatively far away from the mainland and deep into the ocean. The air pollution would not pollute the mainland after the corresponding treatment. It would not even pollute Yueyu Kingdom, Yuewei Kingdom, and Heguo Kingdom.

The industrial and agricultural sewage and solid pollution would be concentrated in the sea surrounded by the newly established solid dike. According to the mutual neutralizing and settling of the corresponding discharged waste pollution, they would become new sea reclamation materials and finally cover the soil to create new land resources with no pollution or low pollution.

Please don't worry that this new land will be a new source of pollution, because this land will be ecologically sound in the future. It will be reserved for natural ecological use, and it will be a paradise for animals and plants.

The earth and stone used for sea reclamation would mainly be excavated from the mountainous hills in the coastal areas. Other projects would not use earth and stone. Some cities could transport usable solid waste here, excavate the excess useless sand and soil from the canal, and extract seabed silt from the nearby sea area.

The supporting projects also included transforming the mountainous areas and hills in the coastal areas into plains (or highland plains), and digging new double-channel canals in the north where conditions were favorable. One of the double-channel canals was used for the domestic water transmission and navigation of urban and rural areas, and the other was used for sewage, rainwater collection and appropriate navigation of urban and rural areas.

At the same time, in the coastal cities and estuaries of the Danshui Sea, a large area of ecological purification wet land would be built at the entrance and exit of the canal to purify the water quality, so that the water could enter and exit cleanly, and the city's pollution would not become the new culprit of the pollution of the entire Tanshui Sea.

As for the cultivation and harvesting of seafood, the entire northern coastal waters north of the South River Mouth had already suffered heavy losses due to the toxins in the river water entering the sea, causing large-scale toxic pollution. Moreover, according to the tide of the ocean, it might affect the entire coastal areas in the next two years. The other coastal waters would also be seriously affected. This had already caused an ecological disaster in the entire coastal waters. In the next three to five years, there would basically be no fishing in the coastal waters.

Although research had found that seawater could degrade toxic substances faster, it still took time. The government of Zhen Country was prepared to implement a three-year ban on fishing and release marine plants and fish in places where conditions were met in order to restore the natural improvement of the marine ecology as soon as possible.

For the fishermen who had no fish to catch, the government had already found a way out for these fishermen. It was to use this super large project to settle the fishermen and use their fishing boats to transport earth and stone for reclamation.

The method of sea reclamation for ships in the sea area was as follows: both sides of the ship were first fixed with a length of more than ten kilometers with a dismountable fixed alloy plate to prevent the reclaimed materials from being washed away by the sea tide and to ensure that the reclaimed materials could be fully deposited. The ships were divided into different types to fill in large and small stones and sand, and the sea reclamation was carried out step by step.

Large ships filled the sea to about 20 meters above the water surface and then moved to the next work area. Medium ships filled the sea to about 10 meters above the water surface, and small ships filled the sea to about 5 meters above the water surface.

Large, medium, and small-sized ships followed suit. On both sides, there were several deep-water suction ships that extracted the seabed sand to fill the area five meters below the sea (mainly to allow the sand to enter the cracks of the sand).

The land reclamation was to fill the sea with sand and stones until the water surface (higher than the normal sea level) was two meters high. After being tamped, it was paved with soil, and the surrounding edges were fixed. On both sides, there was a railway, and the road was convenient for material transportation.

The super project officially established two command centers in the north and south on January 15th. On January 16th, the two command centers officially started at the same time.

The first batch of more than 600,000 heavy-duty trucks and more than 200,000 ships of various types were deployed to the site of the construction route. Due to the mobilization and preparation in the early days, the shallow water area near Shencheng in the south was filled with an area of eight square kilometers in a day. The port near the northern port city was filled with three square kilometers. The subsequent reclamation could basically be maintained at three to five square kilometers per day.

Due to the strong wind, high waves, and rapid tidal currents in winter and spring, the planned reclamation in the middle sea area was delayed. The corresponding ships were transferred to the north and south directions to support the reclamation in the north and south directions.

After the project started, they could basically fill up a thousand meters in length and at least two thousand meters in width every three days. The widest part of Shen Cheng was four to six thousand meters. Then, they divided the area into two reclamation routes and prepared to build a new super-large port according to the plan.

From the beginning of the plan to the start of the project, more than 10 million people were employed every day. There were mountain workers who dug mountains and rocks, river workers who dug coastal canals, people who transported rocks and soil by vehicles, people who transported rocks and soil by ships, and logistics personnel for these workers. From the coastal areas to the vast sea, it was a bustling scene.
