Ming Jing Ke, a subject that appeared in the Han Dynasty to elect officials, began during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty and was abolished during the reign of Emperor Shenzong of the Song Dynasty. Those who were elected had to study the classics, so they were named "Ming Jing". Gong Sui, Zhai Fangjin, etc. all entered the official career because of their clear classics.

It is clearly recommended by the county or Gongqing, and after being elected, it must pass the shooting policy to determine the rank and get the official position.

For example, Zhao Xinchen, Wang Jia, etc. in the Western Han Dynasty were all Lang because of the Jia Division in the archery policy. This subject was set up in the Han Dynasty to provide a channel for Confucian scholars to enter the official career.

The examination method of the Ming Jing system in the Tang Dynasty was based on three tests: Tiejing, Wenyi and Dace. There were also two tests: Wenyi and Dace.

Its main purpose is to test the ability of Juzi to master the classics, to test the ability of Juzi to understand the meaning of the classics, and to test the ability of Juzi to apply what he has learned.

This trinity structure model highlighted the core value of the combination of Confucianism and the selection of officials. The nominal status of the Tang Dynasty's Ming Jing subject always ranked first among the subjects.

Before the middle of the Tang Dynasty, there were indeed some talents who were proficient in Confucianism, and there was no lack of officials and prime ministers.

However, after the middle of Tang Dynasty, the actual status of Ming Jing Ke gradually declined, and was even despised by people.

The fundamental reason was that the development of Confucianism itself lacked new ideas, the Ming Jing Test Method was biased towards the study of chapters and sentences, and the subtle changes in the inner views of the supreme ruler.

For the early Tang Dynasty, the Ming Jing subject was the only way for countless students to retire.

During the Tang Dynasty, the Book of Rites was divided into three parts: Zhou Li, Yi Li, and Li Ji divided the Spring and Autumn Annals into three parts: "Spring and Autumn Zuo Zhuan,""Spring and Autumn Gongyang Zhuan,""Spring and Autumn Gu Liang Zhuan."

However, excluding the Analects of Confucius and the Book of Filial Piety, there were nine scriptures: The Book of Songs, the Book of History, the Rites of Zhou, the Rites, the Book of Rites, the Book of Changes, the Spring and Autumn Zuo Zhuan, the Spring and Autumn Gongyang Zhuan, the Spring and Autumn Gu Liang Zhuan.

From the Tang Dynasty onwards, although the status of Mencius and Mencius began to rise, it was only in the Song Dynasty that Mencius was included in the classics.

Cui Chihao was different from everyone else. He was born in the early Tang Dynasty and had a high opinion of Mencius. In modern terms, he belonged to the minority.

Because there were no examinations, very few students who planned to retire spent time studying the classic works of Mencius. This was also the source of Cui Chihao's confidence.

Two consecutive defeats had affected Cui Chihao, but the Cui family was the number one family in the world after all. Their deep cultural heritage gave him confidence.

Cui Chihao looked at Qin Feng and asked,""Do you know about the discussion about those who have attained the Dao and those who have lost it in 'Mencius Gongsun Chou'?”

The post scripture was roughly equivalent to the fill-in-the-blank question in the future. It was to write a famous saying, dig out the empty space, and make it complete. For Qin Feng, who controlled the entire library, wasn't such a question a piece of cake?

Cui Chihao was referring to the middle school textbook that required one to memorize the full text of the article," A just cause has many supporters, an unjust cause has few supporters." It was simply a piece of cake.

"The right time is not as good as the right place, and the right place is not as good as the right people. If we attack a city three miles away and a city seven miles away, we will not win. If we attack a city around it, there will definitely be someone who has the right time. However, the reason why we will not win is because the right time is not as good as the right place.”

"It is not that the city is not high, the pool is not deep, the army is not strong and sharp, and there is not a lack of rice and grain. If we abandon it, the geographical advantage is not as good as the people.”

"Therefore, the people are not bound by borders, the country is not strengthened by the dangers of mountains and streams, and the world is not threatened by the benefits of military reform. Those who have the way have more help, and those who have lost the way have little help.”

"When there is little help, relatives will betray him. When there is much help, the world will obey him. With the obedience of the world, attack the relatives who betray him. Therefore, if a gentleman does not fight, he will definitely win.”

"Hiss!"

Cui Chihao also did not expect Qin Feng to actually recite it in one breath without a trace of stuttering.

As for the officials, they were so shocked that they were speechless. Many of them had passed the imperial examination and embarked on their official career. The Ming Jing subject had also been their examination subject.

However, Mencius was not accepted by the public, and his works were not included in the examination, so very few people studied him.

He did not expect Qin Feng to memorize this chapter thoroughly. It was truly admirable.

Cui Chihao had a photographic memory since he was young. This was something he was proud of.

Over the years, other than the classic Four Books and Five Classics, other works such as Mencius, Han Feizi, Zhuangzi, and Mozi had been deeply imprinted in his mind.

Unexpectedly, he met Qin Feng this time. He was actually an expert who could recite Meng Zi like the back of his hand. It seemed that the scripture was not difficult for him.

However, Cui Chihao not only knew how to read scriptures, he also had a good understanding of the meaning of questioning.

Using the Wenyi test to examine the ability of the Ming Jing's argumentation, Cui Chihao asked,"

"In Xun Zi, Duke Ai, Qie Qiu heard that the ruler was a boat. The common people are water. Water can carry a boat, water can capsize a boat, if you think of danger in this way, then danger will not come.”

After saying this, Cui Chihao asked Qin Feng,""Dare I ask, Uncle Lan Tian, what is the meaning of this sentence?”

"I've heard this saying before: 'The king is like a boat, and the people are like water. Water can carry a boat, and water can capsize a boat. If you think about the danger from this perspective, how could the sense of danger not come?”

"Resentment isn't big, but it's terrifying. It's best to be careful.”

"In other words, resentment doesn't lie in the size of the matter. What's terrifying is the deviation of the human heart. Water can carry a ship, but it can also capsize.”

" This requires the ruler to be glorious and famous, so that the water can carry the boat smoothly. He should govern the country peacefully and love the people, respect the scholars, and use the talented. To the ruler, these are all matters of life and death, and are also strategies for long-term stability.”

"With copper as a mirror, you can straighten your clothes. Take the ancients as a mirror, you can know the rise and fall of the world; Take people as a mirror, you can understand the gains and losses.”

"Not only the ruler, but the courtiers should also not be happy with things or sad for themselves. They should worry about their people when they are in the high position of the court, and worry about their monarch when they are far away from the Jianghu.”

From the story of the boat capsizing, to the bronze, ancient, and human mirrors, to the last line in Fan Zhongyan's Yueyang Tower, everyone had already received a spiritual baptism.

Among them, Wei Zheng, who was then Minister Zuo Cheng, was the most touched. He was also known for his outspoken remonstrance. No matter what the matter was, he dared to face the Emperor and point out his shortcomings.

The wise Li Er would always listen and correct his own mistakes. Therefore, the saying," Take the ancients as a mirror, you can know the rise and fall;"Using others as a mirror, you can see the gains and losses."

How could this Uncle Lan Tian not want to be an official in the imperial court? He had clearly seen through the world and disdained to associate with them. Such noble conduct and integrity made Wei Zheng feel inferior.

These words not only touched Wei Zheng's heart, but also Li Er's heart.

When you live in the high position of the court, you worry about the people. When you live far away from the Jianghu, you worry about the monarch. With such a minister who worries about the country and the people, why worry about not recovering the country and the people? Why worry about the Turks invading the border again?
