----------------------------------------------

When he was young, he had basically watched all kinds of zombie movies. Sometimes, he would be scared out of his wits and laugh out loud. Based on his childhood memories, the author wanted to follow the trend and write a zombie novel. Whether it was reminiscing about old movies or reminiscing about his childhood, it was one of the good memories of the past. I believe many readers would like it very much. I hope everyone will continue to support it.

The word " Zombie " came from " Da Qian Lu ", a work of Taoism. Zombies meant that their limbs were stiff and their heads were not lowered. His eyes were not slanted. If the legs were not separated, the corpse would not rot.

The theory of zombies prevailed after the middle of the Ming Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty. There were the most records of zombies in the Qing Dynasty. Yuan Mei's Zi Buyu and Ji Xiaolan's Yuewei Cottage Notes were the best. These two books could be said to be the complete collection of zombies.

The theory of chasing corpses in Xiangxi, also known as moving spirits, belongs to Maoshan Zhu Youke, which originated from Yuanling, Luxi, Chenxi and Xupu counties in Xiangxi. When the corpses had not decayed, they were driven back to their hometown by warlocks for burial.

The corpse herders walked in groups of three to five. Some of them tied the corpses with ropes, one every few feet, and then stuck yellow paper talismans on their foreheads. The others beat gongs and bells to open the way, and they rode in ambush at night. Before dawn, he threw the corpse into the warehouse, lifted the talisman paper, and the corpse stood against the wall. He continued on his way at night.

It was also said that the corpse driver actually carried the corpse on his back, but because he was wearing black clothes at night, passers-by naturally could not see the corpse driver and thought there was a walking corpse.

Yuewei Cottage Notes divided the reason why corpses became zombies into two categories: the mutation of new corpses and the fact that they did not rot after being buried for a long time.

Corpse breeding grounds were more scientific. The soil's ph was extremely unbalanced, making it unsuitable for organic matter to grow. Therefore, it would not breed ants, insects, and bacteria. Even if the corpse was buried for more than a hundred years, the muscles and hair would not decay. Some data showed that the hair and nails of the corpse would continue to grow. There was also such a saying in Feng Shui.

(When I was young, I heard an old man say that those who were born on the Red Sand Day and died on the Black Sand Day would become zombies if they were buried in the Flying Sand Land. The Flying Sand Land referred to the land where the soil's acid and humidity were extremely unbalanced and unsuitable for the growth of organic matter.) There was a Taoist method of refining the body. The corpse would be buried for hundreds of years and resurrected after the period was over. The newly dead corpse would be possessed by evil things/evil spirits. The corpse would absorb the Yang qi and use the human's vitality to transform into a corpse. When the person died, the soul would dissipate and the spirit would stagnate.

When you feel afraid of others, you will also feel afraid of Yuan Mei's "Zi Buyu": The human soul is good and evil, the human soul is stupid, and the soul governs the human body. When the soul leaves the human body, it will become a terrifying zombie.

In the unofficial history of the Qing Dynasty, there was a story about the appearance of zombies. It roughly said that in the early years of the Qing Dynasty, there was a small village in the west of Xiangnan. There was a rogue in the village who was poisoned by zombies because of grave robbing. Although he was rescued by an old man, he was beaten by the whole village because he did something wrong again. Then, he was thrown into the grass behind the mountain and left to fend for himself. A few days later, he came back for help, but no one was willing to help him this time. The villagers beat him up and tied him to a tree. Although some people tried to dissuade him, no one paid attention. In the end, he died on a tree. At night, the villagers wanted to bury him, but they found that his body was missing. In the end, he came back and killed the entire village. The villagers turned into zombies one by one because they were bitten. Some villagers who left in time also turned into zombies when they returned to the village in the morning.

Zombies could be divided into six levels:

The first level was the "White Zombie". After the corpse was placed in the Corpse Raising Ground, it would start to grow fluffy white fur after a month. This kind of zombie moved slowly and was very easy to deal with. It was extremely afraid of sunlight, fire, water, chickens, dogs, and even humans.

The second level was the "black corpse". If the white corpse had been fed with the blood essence of cows and sheep, it would shed its white hair after a few years and be replaced by black hair that was a few inches long. At this time, it was still afraid of sunlight and fire, and its movements were slower. However, it was not afraid of chickens and dogs at the beginning. Generally speaking, the black corpse would avoid people and did not dare to fight directly with them. It would usually only feed on human blood in their sleep (the black and white corpses were collectively known as the "black and white corpse demons"). Tens of thousands of incidents of unidentified blood-sucking creatures attacking livestock have been reported in villages and farms around the world. Some people even believe that the savages are black zombies.

The third level was the "jumping corpse". After the black corpse absorbed Yin and sucked blood for a few decades, its black fur would shed, and its movements would start to be based on jumping. It would jump faster and farther, and it was not afraid of sunlight, humans, or any livestock.(Dogs that could bark normally would stop barking once they encountered a "black corpse" or a "jumping corpse," but cats would bark coldly when they saw a zombie.)

The fourth level, Flying Corpse, evolved from a jumping corpse absorbing the dark moonlight. The Flying Corpse was usually a zombie that was more than a hundred years old or even a few hundred years old. It was agile and could jump from houses to trees as if it was flying. It could absorb the soul essence without leaving any external injuries.

The level-five zombies were close to demons and were called "demons", also known as "drought demons","fire demons", and "dry demons". After the flying corpses had absorbed the soul essence for hundreds of years, their appearances became more and more ferocious. They could even change their appearances to confuse people. They could not kill dragons and drought the world, but they could extradite the God of Plagues. This was the cause of the drought plague.(In ancient times, if the plague spread along with the drought, the common people would firmly believe that the drought demons were causing trouble.)

The last level was also the most terrifying zombie. It should be said that it was no longer a " corpse ", but a demon king named " Hou ". It had the terrifying power to fight with the gods. It had thousands or even tens of thousands of years of cultivation. Yuan Mei's " Silent Succession " even said that zombies could turn into Hou." Jiang Mingfu of Changzhou said: The lions and elephants that Buddha rode are known to all; People don't know that the Hou on which Buddha rode was a zombie.”After a zombie transformed, it would let out a strange wail, jump three times, and transform into a beast. Therefore, some people say that the corpse first changed into a drought demon, and then changed into a Hou. Hou has magical power, mouth spit smoke and fire, can fight with the dragon, so the Buddha rode to suppress it.

Zombies were roughly divided into three categories:

One was the walking corpse, which was an unconscious body, the lowest level of zombies. It relied on its own instincts to act. As the saying goes, the walking dead referred to this.

There were also zombies with consciousness. They had the same intelligence as humans and could judge their own actions. They were terrifying zombies, such as the thousand-year-old zombies in the legends of China and the foreign zombies.

There was also the Hanba, the most powerful zombie that only appeared in mythological novels.

The drought demon was a monster that caused droughts in ancient myths and legends of the Celestial Empire. Hanba was not one of the four great zombie kings in modern novels. There was no zombie king in ancient Chinese mythology.

"The Book of Songs·Daya·Yunhan" said: The drought is cruel, as if the fire is burning. "Zi Buyu" volume one "Hanba" described as: The shape of the hair, one foot walking. Yuan Mei's "Xu Zi Bu Yu" also said: The corpse first changed into a drought demon, and then changed into a Hou.

From the Pre-Qin to the Han Dynasty, the image of the Hanba was represented by the image of the Heavenly Lady, and its image was a woman dressed in green. During this period, the drought demon had the identity of the second level of god and monster. People regarded it as the drought god, but they expelled it by sunbathing, flooding, tiger food, and other methods to achieve the purpose of driving away the drought and praying for rain.

From the middle and late Han Dynasty to the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, the image of the heavenly goddess gradually transitioned to another kind of demon image. The reason for this change should be due to the gradual decline of the natural god worship that prevailed in the Pre-Qin period to the Han Dynasty. The divinity of Hanba was gradually denied by people, and her female identity was also questioned. Her image gradually turned to another more evil face.

According to the folk legend of the Heavenly Dynasty, during the reign of Emperor Zhenzong of the Song Dynasty, the drought demon caused trouble and dried up the water in the salt pond. Zhenzong asked Zhang Tianshi for help, and Zhang Tianshi sent Guan Yu to surrender. Guan Yu fought hard for seven days and subdued the demons. Emperor Zhenzong was moved by his divine power and granted him the title of King Wu 'an. This day happened to be the 13th day of the 5th month of the lunar calendar. Later, many people held a temple meeting on this day to pray for the Guan Emperor to appear and exorcise the evil and eliminate the disaster. They also called this day the Rain Festival. And think this day will rain, the so-called drought is only May 13. If it doesn't rain, it will come true if you ask Guan Di.

After the middle of the Ming Dynasty, the Hanba in the shape of a ghost gradually evolved into a Hanba in the shape of a zombie, and was gradually replaced by a Hanba in the shape of a zombie.

At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the theory of Hanba transforming into Hou appeared.

In this book, the most common eight levels of zombies were used. In Zi Buyu, zombies were divided into eight types: Purple Zombie, White Zombie, Green Zombie, Furry Zombie, Flying Zombie, Wandering Zombie, Concealed Zombie, Unmelting Zombie.

About Mao Mountain and Longhu Mountain:

There was no orthodox or unorthodox saying. Mount Longhu and Mount Mao were both famous Taoist mountains. They were also the three main mountains (Longhu, Mao, and Zao Pavilion). Mount Longhu was the mountain gate of the Heavenly Master Sect and the location of the Heavenly Master Mansion. Mount Mao was mainly the mountain gate of the Qing Sect and belonged to the same sect.
