Goshawk glanced at Twain and began his lesson.
The first lesson was about the Levitation Spell. Goshawk's explanation was very detailed and standard, from the pronunciation of the spell, the posture of the staff, to the guidance and control of magic power.
However, Twain always felt that Goshawk was doing this to target him.
Sure enough, after explaining all aspects of the Levitation Spell, Goshawk thought that even the most powerful spell master could not express more opinions, and his gaze fell on Twain again.
"Mr. Corleone, I'm sure you have a deeper understanding of the Levitation Spell.”
Putting down his quill and closing his notebook, Twain stood up from his seat.
Goshawk's explanation of the Levitation Charm had enlightened him on the matter he was considering.
He had to admit that the other party's spell level was very high.
It would be even better if it wasn't always targeted at him.
"Thank you, Professor Goshack, for your explanation. From the perspective of a standard spell, it's impeccable and perfect!”
"However, what I want to discuss with everyone here is another issue, and that is the issue of standardized and differentiated.”
"As we all know, the promotion of the standardized spells makes it easier for wizards to master a spell safely. If you meet a powerful teacher like Professor Goshawk during the learning stage, then congratulations, the speed of learning spells must be amazing!”
"What I want to share with you is how to make a standard spell your own after you master it.”
The classroom was buzzing with discussion.
Goshawk's expression didn't change, at least on the surface.
In fact, he did not know what he was thinking, and Twain did not care.
"To learn the standard incantation, you only need to follow the steps meticulously. However, learning it is only the beginning. You should think further about the principle of this incantation.”
"I know that this is a bit harsh for everyone here. If you were born in a peaceful era, you would of course have time to think about this problem slowly. You could even think about it after you graduate.”
" It's different now. The war in the Muggle world will eventually affect the Magic World, just like the World War twenty years ago. You may not have experienced it personally, but Professor Goshawk must have a deep impression of that war.”
Goshawk said with a straight face.
"Mr. Corleone, I would like to remind you not to mention too many things that have nothing to do with the class.”
Twain shrugged.
"Well, as you wish, let's return to the curse. While you are all feeling smug about your success in casting the standard Levitation Charm, have you ever wondered what makes objects float?”
"Perhaps you will answer, of course it's magic power! Yes, it was magic power, but did you really know the role that magic power played?”
"For Magi, mana is almost omnipotent. But do you know why mana is omnipotent? It was very simple. In different spells, magic power played different roles.”
"Back to the Levitation Charm, do you think it's magic that makes something float? The answer was yes. Magic power could indeed make an item float, but if you really relied on magic power to make an item float, you would find that the amount of magic power required was so huge that no one present could even cast a Levitation Spell.”
"This is like the ancient times. When wizards first used magic, it was indeed so primitive. But if they thought that magic should be used in this way, then unfortunately, we might not have the chance to learn the current levitation spell.”
"The essence of modern levitating spells is not to use magic power to directly levitate objects, but to ingeniously borrow some natural power. Magic power only plays an auxiliary role in it.”
"This involves the most basic question. Why do things have weight? This was because the ground beneath our feet had a force called gravity. Depending on the density and size of an object, the amount of gravity it would feel would be different. The modern Levitation Spell used magic to interfere with gravity, reducing the weight of an object and allowing it to float.”
"Through the control of magic power, we can determine the degree of floating. Just like how we cast a Levitation Spell on a box, our goal is actually to reduce the weight of the box, not to make it fly directly into the sky.”
" Let's take another example. For example, a flying broom has the application of the principle of the Levitation Spell. Of course, a flying broom does not only interfere with gravity, but also with airflow, air pressure, and many other forces.”
"Alright, after talking so much, let me demonstrate.”
Pulling out his wand, he pointed it at the quill in the ink bottle.
"Wingardim, Leviosa!"
The quill floated up and stopped about two meters above the ground.
The pronunciation of the spell and the posture of the wand were exactly the same as Goshawk's explanation. Even Goshawk himself admitted that Twain's Levitation Spell was very standard.
Then Twain waved his wand forward.
The quill whizzed toward Moody, who was sitting in the back of the classroom.
Moody was so scared that he immediately put his head on the desk, but he did not expect the quill to brake on his head, turn around, and fly back toward Twain.
His speed was even faster than before.
Twain raised his wand.
After the quill flew back, it began to spin around the wand and Twain's arm.
Finally, Twain put down his wand, and the quill automatically fell back into the ink bottle.
The freshmen who witnessed all of this widened their eyes.
The classroom was extremely quiet.
Then, someone started clapping, and soon, warm applause swept through the entire classroom.
All the Slytherins except Sirius Black were clapping.
Because the first person to clap was the Elven Prince, Ablaxas Malfoy.
Sirius Black's eyes were filled with suspicion.
He suspected that Twain's demonstration just now did not just use the levitation spell.
Unfortunately, before he could question it, Goshack's voice rang out.
"What a wonderful demonstration. Fifteen points to Gryffindor!”
The Charms professor had personally verified that this was the Levitation Spell!
