Let me introduce you to the Taoist immortals

It was said that he was the eighth grandson of Zhang Liang, the founder of the Western Han Dynasty. He was born in Afang Village, Feng County, on the 15th day of the first month of the 10th year of Emperor Guangwu's reign. Zhang Daoling's father was called Zhang Dashun. He loved the art of immortals and called himself the Immortal Tongbai. When he gave birth to his son, he named him Ling. He hoped that he could follow his ancestors in the future, leave the mortal world, and ascend the mausoleum to become immortal. Zhang Daoling was intelligent since childhood and read Tao Te Ching at the age of seven. When he was a scholar of the Imperial College, he was well-versed in the Five Classics, astronomy, geography and divination books of Heluo. More than 1,000 people followed him to study. However, he often sighed that the books he read could not solve the problem of life and death, so he abandoned Confucianism and changed to study the way of longevity. When Zhang Daoling was 26 years old, he once served as an official in Jiangzhou (now Chongqing), but soon resigned and lived in seclusion in Beimang Mountain of Luoyang (now north of Luoyang, Henan Province).

Think hard and learn. Emperor Zhang of Han Dynasty and Emperor He of Han Dynasty successively recruited him as Taifu and Marquis of Ji County, but he refused. After that, Zhang Daoling began to travel around famous mountains and rivers, seeking immortality. First, he traveled south to the Huaihe River and lived in Taiping Mountain in Tongbai. Later, he crossed the river with his disciples Wang Chang and Zhao Sheng and went south to Yunjin Mountain in Guixi County, Jiangxi Province. Yunjin Mountain had beautiful mountains and clear waters. The scenery was quiet and tranquil. It was the resting place of ancient immortals. Zhang Daoling built a hut on the mountain and built an altar to refine pills. It was said that three years later, the divine pill would be formed, and the dragon and tiger would appear. This mountain was also known as Longhu Mountain. At that time, Zhang Daoling was 60 years old. He heard that the folk customs in Sichuan were pure and easy to educate, so he moved to Heming Mountain in Sichuan.

Legend has it that the first year of Han Shun Emperor Han 'an

On the 15th day of the first lunar month, Taishang Laojun came to Shu and taught Zhang Daoling the " Way of Righteous Alliance ", instructing him to eliminate demons and save the people. Zhang Daoling founded Taoism and respected Lao Tzu as the ancestor of Taoism. He regarded Taoism as the highest belief.

In the second year of Yongshou, he ascended to immortality at the age of 123. Tang Xuanzong Tianbao Seventh Year (748)

Because of Lao Tzu, Zhang Daoling was conferred the title of "Grand Master". In the fourth year of Xizong Zhonghe (884 years), he was conferred the title of "Master of the Three Heavens." In the second year of Emperor Huizong of Song Dynasty (1108), he was bestowed the title of "Zhenjun Zhengyi Jingying", and the title of "Santian Fujiao Fuyuan Master, Zhenjun Zhengyi Jingying Xianyou" was added by Emperor Lizong. Yuan Cheng Sect added the title of "True Lord Zhengyichong Xuanshen Jingying Xianyou". Emperor Chongzhen of the Ming Dynasty gave him the title of "Six Harmonies, Infinite and Brilliant God". The Zhengyi Sect was known as the Ancestral Celestial Master, the Supreme Prime Minister of Taixuan, and the Great Sage, the Devil Subduer, the Heavenly Lord of Dao Protector.

Creation of Taoist Taoism

It is said that Zhang Daoling's annotation of Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching is a classic work of philosophy and Dan Jing of Zhengyimengwei Dao, an early sect of Taoism. The content of Xiang 'er's Note mainly consisted of three parts:

The first was about the Dao Commandments. Xiang Er Zhu believed that Tao was single-minded, sincere, quiet, natural, and good. As long as people abided by the precepts of Tao, they could prolong their lives and get rid of disasters. The second was the method of immortality.

Xiang Er Zhu believed that one could achieve immortal longevity if one was good at preserving essence and qi. It advocated the harmony of the qi of the five zang-organs and the five elements." Harmony is mutual growth, and war is mutual restraint."

He explained the essentials of the technique of intercourse: "The essence becomes the spirit, and the spirit wants to make the spirit immortal.

He believed that with this method, he could also live forever. In order to be self-disciplined, one had to be free from desire, nameless, greedy for glory, competitive, and evil. The third was about the emperor's way of doing things. "Think of Er Note" thinks.

Taoism was not only a matter for Taoists, but also for emperors." Taoism is a way of transformation. It descends from the top and refers to the king. Therefore, one person is valued and no two kings are controlled. Therefore, the king should always carry out Taoism, and then it will affect the officials and people. It is not only feasible for Taoists, but also abandoned by the king."

Moreover, the High Saint Kings were all teachers and used to educate the world, so they could achieve peaceful governance. Later emperors gradually lost their way, and the monarch and his subjects followed the way. A peaceful world could be realized, and the people would be in peace. The "Dao" here referred to the Dao of Life, which was the Dao of quietness, few desires, and happiness. War was about killing, so "war does not conform to the way". The emperor should abide by the way of life and fight less.

Legend

Lv Xian was born on April 14, the 14th year of Emperor Dezong's reign (798 AD). Legend has it that the room was filled with exotic fragrances and a white crane flew into the account. He was intelligent since childhood. At the age of 10, he could learn literature and at the age of 15, he could learn martial arts. He was proficient in hundreds of classics.

In the first year of the Tang Dynasty (825 A.D.), he became a scholar and served as a local official. Later, because he was tired of the chaotic times of war and civil strife, he abandoned his reputation and wealth in the world and came to the Nine Peaks Mountain on Zhongtiao Mountain to cultivate with his wife. He and his wife and children each lived in a cave, facing each other, so they changed their names to Lu Dongbin."Lu" referred to the husband and wife."Cave" referred to the cave where one lived, and "Bin" referred to the fact that one was a guest in the cave.

His Daoist name was Chunyangzi. Before he abandoned his official position and left, he had given out a lot of favors and distributed his wealth to the poor, doing many good deeds for the people. According to Chinese legends, he met the immortal Zhong Liquan by chance during his cultivation and became his disciple. After he succeeded in cultivating, he would leave the mountain and travel around, curing the people's diseases without asking for any remuneration.

He had been kind all his life, helping people in need and was deeply respected by the people. After he ascended, the people of his hometown built a "Lu Gong Temple" for him to commemorate him. In the Jin Dynasty, because Lu Dongbin believed in Taoism, the word "temple" was changed to "view".

In the early years of the Yuan Dynasty, Kublai Khan learned that the Taoism that Lu Dongbin believed in was quite popular among the masses, so he planned to use religion and Lu Dongbin's reputation to consolidate his rule. Later, he sent the national teacher Qiu Chuji to lead Taoism, demolish the "Lu Gong Temple", build a "Yongle Palace". From the construction of the main hall to the completion of the murals of several halls, it took 110 years, almost the same as the entire Yuan Dynasty.

Later, Lu Dongbin traveled to Mount Lu and met Venerable Fiery Dragon, who taught him the Heaven Escaping Sword Art. When he was sixty-four years old, he traveled to Chang 'an and met a Taoist in a tavern. He was wearing a green robe and a white robe. He was writing poems on the wall. Lu Dongbin saw his strange appearance and elegant poetry, so he asked him his name. The Taoist said,"I am Mr. Yunfang." "I live in the Crane Ridge of Zhongnan Mountain. Do you want to go with me?" Lu Dongbin did not agree.

This Mr. Yunfang was Zhong Liquan. At night, Zhong Liquan and Lu Dongbin stayed in the tavern together. Mr. Yunfang cooked for him alone. At this time, Lu Dongbin fell asleep. He dreamed that he was the top scholar, was proud of his official career, had many descendants, and was extremely glorious.

Suddenly, he was convicted of a serious crime, his family property was confiscated, his wife and children were separated, and when he was old, he was poor and destitute. He stood alone in the snow and trembled. Just as he was about to sigh, he suddenly woke up from a dream. Zhong Liquan's rice was not cooked yet, so he wrote a poem,"The yellow millet is not cooked yet, and I dream of Huaxu."」Lu Dongbin said in shock,"Does Mister know about my dream?"

Zhong Liquan said,"Your dream just now was full of life and death, honor and disgrace. Fifty years old was like a moment! What was gained was not worth being happy about, and what was lost was not worth being sad about. Life was like a dream.」Therefore, Lu Dongbin made up his mind to learn Taoism from Zhong Liquan. After passing the test of the Ten Trials, Zhong Liquan taught him Taoism.

The people called him " Emperor Fuyou,"" Lü Chunyang,"" Master Chunyang,"" Lord En,"" Celestial Duke,"" Lü Zu," etc. The Taoists called him " Heavenly Lord Miao Dao," one of the Eight Immortals in folk legends. Lü Dongbin was also one of the Five Wenchang. He was often worshipped together with Guan Yu, Master Zhu Yi, Kuixing, and Emperor Wenchang. In the Yuan Dynasty, it was named "Pure Yang Yan Zheng Hua Fu You Emperor", which was the origin of "Fu You Emperor".

After the Five Dynasties, the situation was in chaos and the people suffered from exile. He often appeared in the world to save the poor. His swordsmanship had a certain influence on the development of the teachings of the Northern Song Dynasty. The Taoist Quanzhen Sect worshiped him as one of the five ancestors of the North, known as "Lu Zu" and "Chunyang Ancestral Master".

History of Song Dynasty. It is recorded in the Biography of Chen Tuan,"Lv Dongbin had a swordsmanship. He was over a hundred years old and had a youthful face. He walked briskly and traveled hundreds of miles. He was regarded as an immortal and came to the brick house many times. People were amazed by him.”Lu Dongbin had a wide range of interests, was open-minded and studious, widely participated in wise people, read widely, integrated, diligent in writing, and left behind rich works. He was not only the founder of Taoism, but also a poet, so he was widely respected by later generations.

Along with Emperor Shaoyang, Emperor Zhengyang, Emperor Daodao, and Emperor Fuji, one of the five ancestors of Taoism, there were thousands of Lvzu Temples and Lvzu Pavilions that worshipped Lvdongbin. The oldest Lvzu Xianshi Temple was built in Chunyang Hall of Yongle Palace in Ruicheng, Shanxi Province during the Yuan Dynasty.

Yongle Palace, formerly known as Dachunyang Wanshou Palace, was located on the east side of Longquan Village, three kilometers north of Ruicheng County, Shanxi Province. According to the records of the Daoist book, this was the birthplace of Lu Dongbin. After the death of Lu Dongbin, the villagers changed his former residence into Lu Gong Temple.

At the end of the Jin Dynasty, with the spread of Lv Dongbin's mythical stories, more and more believers came. The ancestral hall was expanded into a Taoist temple. In the Yuan Dynasty, Taoism was greatly favored by the imperial court, and its founder, Lu Dongbin, had a sharp rise in value. Therefore, the temple was upgraded to a palace, and it became a famous Taoist holy land in the four seas.

The 14th day of the 4th month of the lunar calendar was the birthday of Master Lu Zu.

The inner path was the most revered among the ten thousand sects. In ancient times, it was the root of the world. Life is born in the immortal world, the establishment of Xuanhua Hu set heaven and earth.
