Learning from Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism
In his shock, Confucius looked at the two of them and said,"
"Oh? A Confucian disciple from two thousand years in the future?”
"I wonder if the two of you can come forward and talk in detail?”
Shouren Wang nodded solemnly.
"To be able to have a chance to talk to Teacher at such a close distance, this student is naturally looking forward to it!”
Hearing their conversation, the disciples quickly stood up and made way for Wang Shouren and Su Yefeng.
Wang Shouren and Su Yefeng walked forward and sat cross-legged in front of Confucius.
Confucius looked at the two of them, then at Shouren Wang and asked,"
"You said that you are a scholarly disciple from 2,000 years in the future, so the person beside you should be the mighty figure who allowed you to cross the river of time and come here, right?!”
Wang Shouren quickly replied,
"Yes, sir! This was the River God. It was because of him that the disciple had the opportunity to communicate with the teacher directly.”
"Oh?" Kong Fuzi revealed a surprised expression, then looked at Su Yefeng, cupping his hands and saying,""So it's the River God. Greetings, River God!”
Su Yefeng quickly returned the greeting.”
When the disciples of Confucius heard that the River God had brought the two of them here, they were all surprised.
"River God? So this is a god?"
"This immortal looks so young!”
"Aren't the immortals recorded in those mountain and sea scriptures all very old? Why is she so young?"
"Are you stupid? Immortals don't have age anymore. They have lived for thousands of years. To them, there's no such thing as young or old.”
"River God, can you cross the river of time? Why didn't the River God have the ability to cross the river of time in the books I read?”
"I don't know! Not sure! Don't ask too much about immortals!"
Some people wanted to go up and talk to the River God, but they were dismissed by Confucius. This was also Confucius 'point of view on ghosts and gods. To keep a respectful distance was to show respect but not be willing to approach. What Confucius meant was that one could believe in ghosts and gods, but one had to maintain a sense of reverence. One could not understand them as they did with ordinary things, and one should not have the idea of being too close to them.
Therefore, he didn't support his disciple's attempt to get close to the River God.
Although he was also curious about how the River God had the ability to cross the river of time, he did not ask too much.
Yan Yuan, one of the Ten Wise Men of Confucius, who was standing beside Confucius, saw his teacher's actions and praised him in his heart. No wonder he is a teacher. Heaven is vigorous, and a gentleman should constantly strive for self-improvement! Compared to the unpredictable abilities of immortals, teachers paid more attention to self-improvement!
Confucius then asked Wang Shouren,"
"I wonder what the path of the scholarly faction will be like in two thousand years?!”
After Wang Shouren heard this, he explained the changes in Confucianism.
After hearing this, Confucius felt a little sad."
"I didn't expect Confucianism to reach such a stage in the end!”
"I didn't expect that the 'benevolence' that I advocated would be developed into an ideology with the hierarchy of benevolence as the core. This is completely against my original intention!”
"And there are actually some pedantic scholars! Where was the meaning of 'not angry, not broken'?!”
" In some dynasties, only the children of the nobles had the chance to study. Where was the original intention of 'education without discrimination' at all?!”
The disciples of Confucius also felt a little heavy. They didn't expect that there would be so many people who misunderstood the original intention of Confucianism and went against it.
Wang Shouren cupped his hands and said,"
"Thus, this disciple specially came to learn the true Confucian classics from Teacher!”
Hearing Wang Shouren's words, Confucius swept away the gloominess in his heart and nodded.
"Fine! Fine! Every kind of knowledge had its own path to take. Every kind of knowledge would be affected and changed in the long river of history!”
"Since you said that you want to learn the true Confucian classics, then stay!”
After Wang Shouren heard Confucius 'permission, his face lit up."Thank you, teacher!"
In the following period of time, Wang Shouren learned from Confucius and asked him questions whenever he didn't understand anything. Su Yefeng also listened to his lessons during this period of time and benefited greatly from listening to these Confucian techniques.
Since Wang Shouren was already known as a Confucian scholar, he had some unique insights into Confucianism and had transformed and developed it. Therefore, after listening to these Confucian secrets that had been lost in history, he once again took a step forward in his own study of the heart.
Even Yan Yuan, one of the ten sages under Confucius and the leader of the seventy-two sages of Confucius, expressed his admiration for Wang Shouren's insights.
After Wang Shouren had learned everything he needed to learn, there was no room for improvement. Wang Shouren bid farewell to Confucius and came to the era of Mencius under Su Yefeng's guidance. He then followed Mencius to learn.
Then there were Laozi, Guigu 'zi, Fa Xian, and the other great masters of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism.
