“Boss, you're hilarious…”
Ouyang Xin managed an awkward smile, still processing Gu Xin's joke about saving on air conditioning during summer.
Not that she needed to worry about her electricity bills, anyway.
“So, Boss, this is an Ice-type Pokémon, right?”
Chen Yun, intrigued, looked closely at the “ice cream” displayed on the Pokédex. Its resemblance to an actual ice cream cone was uncanny.
“Exactly, this is Vanillite, a pure Ice-type Pokémon. Isn't it adorable?”
Gu Xin nodded with a smile, offering a brief introduction. Vanillite's design, with its delicate and charming appearance, was undeniably cute.
“And it's not just about looks. Vanillite also has considerable potential—it's definitely one of the better Ice-types out there.”
Vanillite's final evolution, Vanilluxe, had a respectable stat total exceeding 500, making it a formidable choice in battles.
“Then I'll take it, Boss.”
Ouyang Xin blinked, her inner girlish heart stirred. Who could resist such a cute Pokémon?
“Please wait a moment.”
Gu Xin smiled and disappeared into the back room. Moments later, he returned, accompanied by a floating Vanillite, curiously surveying its surroundings.
“So cute!”
Ouyang Xin's eyes sparkled as she fixed her gaze on the Vanillite.
And it floated! It really was like a little sprite from Western mythology.
“This is Vanillite. From now on, this lovely young lady will be your Trainer, so be good to her, okay?”
Gu Xin crouched to speak to the Vanillite, pointing toward Ouyang Xin.
“Mini~”
Vanillite gave a small burst of speed, floating directly in front of Ouyang Xin. Its large eyes stared into hers as it let out a soft, melodic hum.
“Hello, Vanillite.”
Ouyang Xin's heart raced as the Pokémon approached but she suppressed her excitement, greeting it gently.
It's so cute!
Up close, Vanillite's delicate features were even more apparent. Standing no more than 0.4 meters tall, it resembled a vanilla ice cream cone with icy blue eyes and a perpetual warm smile. Its base was a crystalline icicle, with tiny ice crystal arms extending from its sides.
“Mini~ Mini~”
Vanillite's eyes crinkled into crescent shapes as it responded cheerfully, its youthful voice melting Ouyang Xin's heart.
“You're so adorable, Vanillite!”
Unable to hold back any longer, she gently cupped Vanillite in her hands. A sudden chill surged through her palms, making her shiver.
So the boss wasn't joking about not needing air conditioning!
“Vanillite is an Ice-type Pokémon. It naturally prefers cold environments, and its body temperature is quite low. So, be prepared for that when touching it,” Gu Xin explained as he approached.
“Of course, Vanillite is very considerate. If it senses your touch, it will suppress its chill to avoid discomfort.”
Gu Xin handed Ouyang Xin two boxes of Ice-type Energy Cubes, along with a Beginner's Handcontaining foundational knowledge about Pokémon care.
“As one of the first ten customers to purchase a Pokémon, you'll also receive two complimentary Memorial Balls. I believe Mr. Chen has already explained how to use them.”
“And this is a Pokédex. Would you like one?”
Gu Xin held up a red Pokédex, smiling warmly.
“Yes, please! I definitely need one,” Ouyang Xin replied quickly, examining the Memorial Balls with curiosity. A Pokédex, capable of recording Pokémon data, was an absolute must-have.
“The Pokédex is 500, and Vanillite is priced at 200,000,” Gu Xin said with a smile.
“Alright.”
Without hesitation, Ouyang Xin retrieved her card from her bag. She didn't even consider bargaining—this was completely worth it!
Looking at the floating Vanillite beside her, Ouyang Xin couldn't help but smile.
What a cute and magical little creature!
Vanillite wasn't just an ordinary animal—it felt like an elemental being. The sheer wonder of it all left her amazed.
The first thing she did after receiving the Pokédex was aim it at Vanillite.
Beep!
Vanillite – Ice Type, Fresh Snow Pokémon
Ability: Snow Cloak
Moves: Harden, Astonish, Taunt, Ice Shard
Description: An icicle that bathed in morning sunlight and transformed into a Pokémon. It buries itself in snow to sleep.
“That's incredible~”
Listening to the Pokédex's description, Ouyang Xin marveled at Vanillite. It was literally an icicle brought to life!
“It seems the customer is very happy with her choice,” Gu Xin remarked with a smile, noticing how much Ouyang Xin adored Vanillite.
“Yes, I love it. Thank you, Boss.” Ouyang Xin smiled, bowing slightly out of courtesy.
“There's no need to be so formal—it's just business,” Gu Xin replied hastily, surprised by her politeness.
“She's always like this,” Chen Yun interjected with a laugh. “Ouyang is great at everything, but she tends to take things too seriously.”
Ouyang Xin shot Chen Yun an annoyed glance but didn't argue. He was her boss, after all, and she was used to his comments.
“By the way, Ouyang, I'll add you to the group chat. How about a battle with my Aron to test it out?”
Chen Yun sent her an invite and then looked at Vanillite with interest.
An Ice-type Pokémon—it was the first time someone had drawn one. He was curious about its moves and wanted to see how his Aron's Steel-type skills would perform.
Gu Xin's expression turned a bit odd. A rookie Aron battling a rookie Vanillite?
“A battle…”
Ouyang Xin hesitated as she accepted the group invite. She had seen the battle videos on Little Broke Site and felt both intrigued and nervous.
Could she handle it?
Moreover, Vanillite was so delicate, and Aron was a literal steel beast.
If Aron charged into Vanillite, wouldn't it just shatter into pieces?
Glancing at Aron, still happily munching on Energy Cubes, Ouyang Xin's expression grew strange.
Maybe… it's worth a try?
