Bunce was roused from his sleep by Harry on Sunday morning.
"Why did you call me so early?" asked Bangs.
"He's gone." said Harry, pointing at Ron's empty bed.
"Why are you worried about him?" Bangs said contemptuously as he put on his clothes.
"You're right," Harry muttered.
When Bunce was dressed, he followed Harry down the spiral staircase to the common room. As soon as the two of them appeared, the students who had already eaten their breakfast cheered enthusiastically again.
"What should we do now?" asked Harry.
"Come on, I'm sure Hermione'll bring us food.”Bunce pushed open the hole behind the portrait.
"Ah, hello," said Hermione, holding up a large wad of bread."I brought it for you. Wanna go for a walk?”
"That's what I was thinking." Bangs said as he took the bread.
"Thank you very much, Hermione," said Harry gratefully.
Gryffindor roared again as they passed the Great Hall, and they had no choice but to fly through the entrance hall. Soon, they were striding on the lawn that extended to the lake. Durmstrang's large boat was moored on the lake, casting a dark reflection in the water. It was a rather chilly morning, and they kept walking, munching on bread as Harry told Hermione everything that had happened the night before.
"Of course I know you didn't sign up yourself," said Hermione."Look at the look on your face when Dumbledore said your name! The question is, who put your name in? And-Bunce, how did you cross that age line?”
"This is a secret. I can't tell you." Bangs said as he wiped his mouth with a tissue.
"You're always like this. When will you be more honest with us?”said Hermione, raising her eyebrows.
"You wouldn't understand even if I told you, Hermione.”Bance said innocently.
"I can go to the library, I can ask-" said Hermione excitedly, her eyes shining.
"Have you seen Ron?" Harry interrupted her.
Hermione hesitated.
"Oh, I saw him eating breakfast." she said.
"Does he still think that I signed up myself?”asked Harry.
"No, I don't think so.”said Hermione awkwardly.
"What do you mean by 'actually not'?”said Harry, puzzled.
"Well, Harry, don't you see?”said Hermione helplessly."He's jealous!”
"Jealous of what? Was he willing to make a fool of himself in front of the entire school?”asked Harry.
"Think about it," said Hermione patiently."You and Bunce are champions, and he isn't, you know, Ron's got so many brothers to compete with at home, and you're so famous as his best friend-he's been snubbed every time anyone sees you, and he's put up with it in silence, never mentioning a word about it, and I think this is the last straw."
"What a silly fool.”Bance said.
"That's right." said Harry resentfully.
The next few days were a bit of a headache. No matter where Bunce was in the school, there were students who looked at him as if they were trying to see something in him. After all, according to Fred, his classmates did not think that there was such a person at Hogwarts.
"I understand your difficulties now, Harry.”said Bunce, as they were about to leave for Snape's Potions.
After lunch Bunce, Harry, and Hermione went to Snape's dungeon.
Class started.
"Antidote!" said Snape, looking around the class, his cold black eyes flashing with an unpleasant light. I want you to boil it carefully, and then we'll choose someone to try."
Just then, there was a knock on the dungeon door.
Was it Colin? Creevey. He sidestepped into the room and made his way to Snape's desk at the front.
"What is it?" said Snape impatiently.
"I'm sorry, sir, I'm taking Harry? Potter and Bunce? Fly, go upstairs."
Snape's eyes dropped from his aquiline nose to Colin, and the smile vanished from Colin's eager face.
"Potter and Foley have another hour of Potions.”said Snape coldly."He'll go upstairs after class.”
Colin blushed.
"Sir-sir, Mr. Bagman wants them to go," he said nervously."All the brave ones are going, I think they're going to take pictures."
"Very well, very well," snapped Snape."Potter, leave your things here, I want you to come back later and test your antidote.”
"I'm sorry, sir-he'll have to take his things," said Colin, squeaking nervously."All the brave men-"
"Very good!" snarled Snape."Potter-and you, Foley, get your bags and get out of my sight!”
"It's something, isn't it?”"Didn't you?" said Colin eagerly, as soon as Bunce and Harry had closed the door behind them. All of you have become warriors. How enviable.”
"Yeah, it's great," said Harry heavily, and they all made their way up the steps to the entrance hall.”
"Probably in the Daily Prophet!”said Colin absentmindedly, his eyes fixed on Harry.
"Great," said Harry gloomily."Just what I wanted. You'll make a fool of yourself."
"Good luck!" Colin said as they arrived outside the room. Bang Si knocked on the door and walked in.
It was a small classroom, and most of the desks had been pushed to the back of the room, leaving a large space in the middle. However, there were still three desks that were placed next to each other in front of the blackboard. They were covered with a long piece of velvet. Behind the velvet-covered desk were five chairs, one of which was occupied by Ludo? He was talking to a witch whom Bangs had never seen before, though Bangs soon remembered that she was a reporter for the Daily Prophet-Rita Barker. Skeeter.
When Bagman saw Bunce and Harry, he got to his feet quickly and jumped forward.
"Ah, they're here! Two Hogwarts champions! Come on, come on, there's nothing to worry about, it's just the wand testing ritual, the other judges will be here soon-"
"Test wand?" said Harry uneasily.
"We'll have to check if your wands are fully functional and in good condition, because wands will be your most important equipment in the future events.”said Bagman."The expert is upstairs with Dumbledore. Then, he took a few photos. This is Rita? Skeeter,"he said," she's writing a little article about the tournament for the Daily Prophet."
"It may not be a small matter, Ludo.”Rita? said Skeeter, ignoring Bunce and staring hard at Harry.
"Can I have a word with Harry before we begin?”she asked Bagman.”
"No problem!" said Bagman loudly."It's just-I don't know if Harry's against it?”
"Er-" said Harry.
"That's great." Rita? said Skeeter, and she reached out her scarlet clawlike fingers, grabbed Harry, and left.
"Ah, I noticed you were ignored.”Bagman joked.
"A little, Mr. Bagman.”Bangs said with a smile.
"Can you tell me your name?" Bagman asked, his eyes wide.
"Bunce? Mr. Foley, Mr. Bagman." Bance said.
"Good name, good name. You don't mind me calling you Bance, do you?”said Bagman.
"My pleasure." Bangs bowed slightly and said.
"Ah, they're here." Bagman stepped forward.
"Hasn't Harry arrived yet?" said Dumbledore, looking at Bunce.
"No, no, he'd been here with Bunce long ago, but he'd been beaten up by Rita? Skitteritala went to do a short interview.”said Bagman.
Dumbledore was seen walking out of the room, and a moment later he was leading Harry and Rita out of the room. Skeeter returned to his room.
Bunce saw Harry approach and sit down beside him.
"Allow me to introduce Mr. Ollivander.”Dumbledore sat down at the judges 'table and said to the champions,"He will be checking your wands to make sure they are in good condition before the match.”
"Miss Delacour, you first, will you?”said Mr. Ollivander, stepping into the empty space in the middle of the room.
Fleur? Delacour glided over to Mr. Ollivander and handed him his wand.
" Oh," he said.
He twirled his wand between his long fingers like a baton, and it shot out many pink and gold sparks. Then he held the wand close to his eyes again and examined it.
"Yes," he said quietly."Nine and a half inches, very elastic. Made of maple. Oh, my God."
"It contained a strand of veela hair," said Fleur."My grandmother's hair.”
"Yes," said Mr. Ollivander."Yes, of course, I have never used veela hair myself. I think a wand made of veela hair is too sensitive and headstrong, but everyone has their own interests, and if it suits you "
Mr. Ollivander ran his finger over his wand, apparently checking for scratches and bruises. Then, he whispered,"Orchids in full bloom!"”A bouquet of fresh flowers was placed on the wandhead.
"Very well, very well, in good shape," said Mr. Ollivander, gathering the flowers and handing them to Fleur with his wand.”
Viktor? Krum got to his feet and slouched off toward Mr. Ollivander. He shoved his wand back into his mouth and stood frowning, his hands in the pockets of his robes.
"Ah," said Mr. Ollivander,"if we're mistaken, this is Gregorovitch's product. He's an excellent wandmaker, though I'm not entirely wrong with his style."
He raised his wand, turned it over and over in front of his eyes, and examined it carefully.
"That's right. Goose-eared tochigi contains dragon heart chordal tendons, right?”He glanced at Krum, who nodded."Much thicker and stiffer than people usually see. Ten-and-a-quarter-inch flock of birds!”
The hornbeam wand gave a loud bang, like a pistol being fired, and a flock of birds flew out of the wand's head and into the pale sunlight through the open window.
"Very well," said Mr. Ollivander, handing the wand back to Krum."Which one of you will go first?"”
Bunce got up and walked past Krum toward Mr. Ollivander. He handed over his wand.
" Ah, yes," said Mr. Ollivander, his pale eyes shining with a different light." Yes, yes, yes, I remember it clearly.”
"Do you think it's useful?" asked Mr. Ollivander.
"Very well, thank you, Mr. Ollivander.”Bance said.
" Remember my words," said Mr. Ollivander." Clear water like a spring.”
"Very well," said Mr. Ollivander, handing the wand back to Bunce, whose wand was spouting clear spring water. And last but not least, Mr. Potter?”
Bunce put away his wand and sat back in his chair to wait. Mr. Ollivander had been examining Harry's wand much longer than anyone else's. Finally, he let a puff of wine spray out of the wand's tip, then returned it to Harry and announced that it was in excellent condition.
"Thank you, everyone," said Dumbledore, standing up at the judges 'table."You may go back to class now-perhaps it would be better to go straight down to dinner, they'll be dismissed soon anyway-"
However, just as everyone was about to leave, the man holding the black camera jumped up and cleared his throat.
"Pictures, Dumbledore, pictures!”Bagman shouted excitedly." What do you think of a picture of the referee and the champion, Rita?”
"Okay, let's take a picture first," said Rita. said Skeeter, staring at Harry."Maybe we'll take a few more solo shots later.”
The photo took a long time. Madame Maxime blocked everyone else wherever she stood, and the room was too small for the cameraman to stand very far away and bring her into the picture; At last she sat down, and the others stood around her. Karkaroff kept twirling his fingers around his goatee, trying to curl it up. The photographer seemed particularly keen to have Fleur in front, but Rita? Skeeter was always catching up and pulling Harry into a more prominent position. Then, she insisted on taking individual photos of the warriors one by one. After a long time, they finally got out.
"This is truly a disaster." said Harry as he sat down in the Great Hall eating dinner.
"Not bad." Bangs looked at the empty auditorium and sighed.
